I'm a newbie here and would like to seek your expertise regarding my unit Isuzu Hilander SL '97 with isuzu 4ja1 engine.
These are my issues:
A. Black smoke comes out in first few seconds upon engine start-up and followed by too much smoke (white to grayish white) during engine running idle but reduces when engine is hot. Check engine compression....
B. Along with the smoke is a strong smell of which I think unburnt diesel.[/B]
Check injection pump to engine timing.

[LEFT]What do you think are the possible culprit? Other conditions listed below for your reference if anyone can help me troubleshoot my problem. Low cylinder compression pressure is very possible.
Thanks dieseldude sa replies. Follow-up questions ko lang regarding sa mga suggestions mo. How come po na low compression yung culprit eh One click start naman po kahit maulan at malamig weather. Hindi rin naman po nagbabawas ng oil. In either way low compression po kung rings, liners, valve guides or seal yung worn-out na, definitely papasok yung oil sa combustion chamber at susunugin. Tama po ba or mali yung assumption ko. Paki-expound po further yung point ninyo. I'm afraid po kasing i-admit na my internal problem talaga itong 4ja1 ko samantala less than a year pa to sa akin at less than 10,000km ko pa nagamit at hindi naman to dati kausok. Many thanks dieseldude!
