What's so special with SUVs? Pwede din naman siguro itong Shell Helix engine oil sa sedan as long as matched naman yung oil grade like API SN (or the newer SP)

and if warming up the engine in the garage were the standard practice, it would probably run, "best for warming up the engine in the garage..."
the change in etiketa lyrics cost them practically nothing.

i use cheap ordinary mineral oil, replacing it regularly every 5000 km.

Comparing regular mineral oil vs Amsoil signature series on my 2gd hilux. Ramdam na mas tahimik at less vibration ng makina at mid rpm acceleration. Gastos ng mas malaki pero worth it naman siguro because I can change my oil 7,000 km to 10, 000km reading on Amsoil sig series compared to mineral na need palitan every 5, 000km.

Mas magandang 5000km to 8000km max ang oil change. Full Synthetic 10000km is bad practice. Also mukhang mas maganda Shell LD5 oil kaysa delo around P300 naka API CK.

Anyone ever used the new brands on the market with advertised "for extended drain intervals" like K&N Select? Nakasulat sa box good for 20,000 miles or 32,000km, but the filtration efficiency is not really mentioned anywhere.

I prefer good filtration over extended drain filters--maybe except when its a Fram Ultra (I use a Fram Ultra XG3614 on my fortuner for 30,000km before changing the filter coupled with 10k oil changes).

I also run Isuzu's genuine filter (8981650710) on a D-max for 20,000km with 10k oil changes. 20k oil filter changes are listed in the manual so I followed it without ill effects, cut open my oil filters too and found nothing abnormal.

Remember oil filters get more efficient over time. Sayang sa pera yung 5k oil filter changes kung malinis makina mo. Cut open your oil filters to help make your decision. I have an oil filter cutter for this hehe.

Mas magandang 5000km to 8000km max ang oil change. Full Synthetic 10000km is bad practice

Depends on the driving factors. If its everyday 3 hour metro manila traffic sure. But If its mixed driving with some highway miles in it then there's nothing wrong with going 10k or even 15k if you're using a quality full synthetic like amsoil/zic etc. Also if your vehicle has a bigger sump (like 7liters for your usual diesel SUV/trucks) then it can easily go farther than 10k, sobrang conservative lang ng estimate ng 10k oil change interval dito sa pinas since it already includes the traffic/severe driving factor in it--otherwise we would be following the euro oil change intervals which is 20k or 2 years.

I'm after engine longevity so I change the oil and oil filter as recommended for Diesels. Diesel engines are anything but clean.

Right now driving a new car with a 1GD engine, I still follow the 4-6 months or 5k km OCI for the free PMS until it reaches 20k. I'm just using the Toyota 15W40 mineral oil. The engine is happy and quiet. Once the free PMS is up, I'm going to continue with a 6-month or 6-8k km OCI using Amsoil 5w-40.

I've stopped using Zic (used both X7 and X7000 Diesel engine oils) as my experience with it in my previous 2KD is that, the engine starts to clatter noticeably louder after just a couple of weeks on the new oil. This may indicate that its anti-shear properties are not that great. Granted, the 2KD isn't exactly a quiet engine to start with compared to modern Diesel engines, so take this with a grain of salt.

pag large capacity sumps chicken lang yan sa mga trucks or busses. Pag May oil analysis ka it's not unheard of truck companies running their rigs upto 40,000km. 20-30L ba naman yung size ng oil sump ng mga yan.

Para sating private vehicle owners naman May factor din yung sump size. Pag 7L sump diesel chicken lang ang annual oil change na 10,000km. Pag mga small cars na May 3 or 4 liter sumps dyan ako susunod sa 6mos or 5k rule, mas mabilis madeplete ang additives sa smaller sumps.

He meant to say, efficient at filtering. A bit of crud catches more crud at the expense of flow rate. But for as long as the flow rate does not go below what the engine requires, it should be fine.

But if you go beyond the filter's dirt-bearing capacity and clog up the filter media, it will open up the bypass valve (if equipped), allowing unfiltered oil to bypass the filter and circulated back into the engine.
