At 18 km/liter, that would be quite impressive for a crossover. I hope someone can get a Coolray on the Dyno for more testing.

Another potential Lu-Li Chinese Car. :P . Lu-Li means lulubog lilitaw. dati na sila dito, kasabay ng cherry, mas naunang nawala sa cherry. ngayon bumalik na naman. Kailan kaya mawawala na naman ito. hahahahaha![]()

I would agree po with that comment on fuel economy. I am also interested in the Atlas (of course with proper pricing and hopefully with some water wading hehe)
Also - when would the Coolray be officially rolling to the buyers? (for potential user reviews! And would we know po what would be the PMS interval of these cars? Hopefully, it will be reliable and parts will be 'universally' accessible - both logistically and monetary-wise

Ang problema dyan sa coolray , yes super ganda talag loob at labas, pang kuripot na millennial na ayaw bumile ng traditional na japanese car na expensive to spite the older generation. Thats okey if yan ang tibok ng puso, but tunog lata talaga yun sounds, as in chinese android tsblet na tinayo sa dash yun sound system,
I mean we are in the age of wireless airpods na pagandahan ng sounds, tapos kotse mo parsng AM radio , something is wrong somewhere
Not really. The HU is a 10.5 inch floating widescreen unit, the whole dash looks straight out of a science fiction set. Sound coming from the 6 speakers (2 pairs of which are separates: a pair each of midrange speakers and tweeters) is actually pretty good.
This is really a gamble for buyers of Geely Cars, LU-LI as you termed it might happen again. I hope it will do a Ford like comeback. Chinese technologies nowadays are fast catching up with the leaders. And I think Chinese cars someday will have a good number of followers here like what happened to Korean cars, they have already many followers. But what I don't like about Korean cars are their pricing and lack of features compared with other competitors in the same price range.

[I]"Looking at the Coolray at a normal car buyer’s standpoint, I just have to say this – this car is so good, it’s weird. A good kind of weird, especially when you compare it to other similarly-priced crossovers or even against pricier and bigger ones."

Here's the verdict fron Niky Tamayo for his TopgearPH review:
"There are crossovers that provide the same level of power, kit, and refinement as the Coolray—only they tend to cost over twice as much. What you get here is premium content with a mass-market price tag. Even the base Comfort variant, at under P1 million, features the same 10-inch infotainment package and 174hp engine. And while it does have some drawbacks, that value for money—plus a 150,000km/five- year warranty backed by an experienced distribution group—makes it seem like a winner. It may be a little late to the game, with several other turbocharged Chinese crossovers already on the market, but there’s nothing else offering this much kit and luxury at this price level. Where the lovable Panda couldn’t charm its way into our crowded market, the ’Ray may just have the sting to knock the competition dead."

Reviews have so far been excellent, not just "puwede na" but really flattering ones too. Consensus seems to be this car punches way above its price point.

"The Geely Coolray will change your perception of the China car
Times sure have changed"

One of my senior staff just told me this morning that he just bought the Geely Coolray and he wants me to give it a try. Of course, I obliged. I was the one who told him about it and I didn't expect he'll buy one right away.
All I can say is that I was really impressed with the Coolray. I could not fathom the fact that this car is priced like a usual base compact (1.1M). The car I tested was the TOTL model and Geely gives a 90k discount on it so you can bring it home for 1.108M. After my short test drive, I feel like the Ecosport or HRV or Vitara or ASX don't stand up to it. The XV may have the Subaru AWD system but the Coolray will outpace it, not to mention all the high-tech features on its cabin. The dashboard menu on my 2016 FXT feels old compared to the dashboard of the Coolray. The dashboard color and ambient lighting change color depending on its drive setting (Normal - Yellow, Econ - Blue, Sport - Red). The infotainment system is a nice touch screen monitor like a small tablet but the coolest feature is the active 360* camera display.
On to the drive, the 1.5L 3-cylinder engine idles at 1k rpm as expected in a small displacement turbo engine. The good insulation keeps most of the sound away but you know the engine purrs in front. The turbo engine has a bit of turbo lag but you'd feel the torque pull at 2k rpm. On Sport setting, the car will squeel its front tires on a rapid launch and you'd be off scooting to 60kmh in a few seconds. Reviews state a sub 8 seconds 0-100kmh sprint but I did not have enough open road to try it. As expected of a small crossover, it drives more like a compact car but the Coolray has stock 18" Continental tires that offer a good amount of grip. I was weaving thru BGC traffic with ease and with some pace leaving some slow-moving cars as I was trying to catch green lights. Records state a 175hp peak output at just just over 5k rpm but an open highway will test how much speed it can do.
Except for its brand name, I guess the Coolray is one good package. If you're the type who's not brand-conscious but sees more merit in what the car can offer, you will be happy driving home one.
