Buying Chinese is much like buying American or Japanese or German or Korean. All of them are not local. Buying stuff has little much to do with being patriotic.

Will buying Japanese make you more patriotic?

'lakas nang ulan pag afternoon and evening.

    seriously,
i'd consider buying china cars, once i get convinced that they are as reliable and matibay as the japanese cars.

    How global we have become?

I drive a Japanese-made car which runs on fuel from the Arabs and components mostly made in China. My phone is of an American brand but manufactured in China. I wear American glasses. I sometimes wear shirts from France and American-branded jeans. My favorite shoes are of a German brand but manufactured in China.

I guess only thing local are my underwear and socks. I love using Burlington socks!

Am I patriotic? Of course. I pay my taxes and opt to work here.

That’s a good thing, being patriotic with a global mindset!
What im driving at is the Chinese are already there in the WPS and we still send our money to china by buying chinese brands.
Truly hindi tayo like the Japanese who are really patriotic in the true sense. Language and dialect are japanese but they cater globally. They’d buy local most of the time too.

Coz we’re always f*d up by the government and the deep seated corruption. 3rd world thinking din na kanya kanya.

Pero BTT- never pa rin ako bibili ng chinese car brand. Kasama na rin VW-SAIC models tulad ng t-cross.
Never din ako mag Dito telecom, chinatelecom holds 40% and they’re listening [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]

Vehicle design and manufacturing is a high entry barrier industry

Only the Chinese and Koreans have been successful new entrants recently, Malaysia’s Proton is still far behind despite being in operation for almost 40 years.

Even if we weren’t corrupt, we still wouldn’t have a home-made car industry. At best it would a Proton, a laughing stock.

The barrier to local manufacturing is high energy costs (see Hanjin), bureaucratic red tape, and low local demand.

The Juans in Pasay used to make Wrangler type body shells.

All metal yun, machine stamped. They exported to Europe yata. Saw them featured in European motoring magazine before.

But locally, walang bumibili. You're right sobrang arte ng pinoy, how can they improve and develop if from the start pa lang nobody wants them na.
