wala nga display panel ung sa gitna gaya ng model sa ibang bansa pero meron naman tayong mga sensors na wala sa kanila so i guess kanya2x variant depende sa mga lugar na irerealese ung unit like dito sa atin sa asia.

Reading some reviews of the Captiva from abroad, I can't help but notice that most of them are quite consistent in declaring the Captiva's handling is something that is less to be desired.

sige balitaan mo kami sa dirty diesel test, sana pumasa. eto lang ang isang malaking hurdle na'to afterward i have a feeling this will be a HOT sell.
i saw a captiva yesterday. in the looks department, pwede na for its price. bigger than a tucson but smaller than a sta. fe. if the manufacturer's specs are to be believed, most bang for the buck suv siya.
however before i plunge into the unknown universe of the captiva, i really like to test drive it first but there are no test drive units.
another beef i have is the dealers seem to be in a predatory pricing mode. the site of gm/chevrolet states that the crdi 2.0 fwd is just 1.275 but the salesmen are uniform in quoting 1.299. when i tried to tell them that their prices are higher than published, they sheepishly reasoned out that their quota for the introductory price has already been filled up.
captiva may be good. or may be not. but if gm can not honor its published price, what more when i run to it for my warranty?
there must be honor, even among thieves![]()
as a follow up:
when i reminded them that they should not be engaged in predatory pricing (marking up prices to unsuspecting, gullible and uninformed buyers) they told me that the introductory price is effective only for the first 100 buyers.
look at this site and be the judge.
http://www.generalmotors.com.ph/GM/c...A/CAPTIVA.html
does it state there first one hundred buyers only.
another beef.
perhaps because i was just in jeans and looking so young, when i asked for a brochure, they just gave me a xerox copy.
hello!!! you are selling a million peso untested vehicle and you cannot even give away a freaking brochure.
Maybe they ran out.
You could ask GM Philippines about it... actually, it is possible that the 1.275 is "introductory" only, and they've really increased it.
They just keep the old price on the website to lure buyers in. I don't know if that's a criminal offense, but it should be. Toyota dealers in the US did the same thing... when the EPA changed fuel economy ratings for the Prius, some dealers refused to change the stickers... (60 mg sounds much ***ier than 45 mpg) in other words, mis-informing the public in order to create more sales... siyempre, they were found out and reported... by... guess who? Honest Toyota dealers who changed the stickers to reflect the new numbers.![]()
Ang pagbalik ng comeback...
I think they don't mention this, because it can change, sometimes they can extend it. They also have the right to change the specs and prices without notice, this is the reason they recommend the person to contact or visit the showroom, they're usually more updated than the local websites.
They probably ran out of brochures... I got mine from the GM display at the Philippine International Motor Show.
The same thing happened to me a couple of times at Toyota shaw.
1st time was with the previous gen Rav4 when it was launched... they gave me a crappy dark photo copy of the brochure. The same thing happened when I checked out the 1st gen Toyota Vios when it was launched here, also a one page photo copy.
Last summer I checked out the new Mitsubishi Strada and they had no brochure and before that I visited the showroom to look at the Galant 240M, they also had no brochure, not even a photo copy... these things happen.

ayush kaka-release lang invoke na kagad right nila: Price Subject to change without prior notice
as always, CASA ang problema ng chevy.
anyway, the 1.299M is true. i'm holding a pricelist right now from their display in Gateway Mall.
fictitious lang pala yan 1.275M price. first 100 customers my ass. nun Oct 1 lang ni-launch yan eh.
with that attitude, good luck sa selling nyo. i agree predatory tactics nga.
maybe they got too confident because of many inquiries. but inquiries do not equate to closed sales isnt it?
im sure if their sales become tepid they would readily reduce their price to 1.2 m. with their attitude, i think i may have to take a pass on this first generation captiva. i dont want to be their guinea pig at the moment. remember this is their first stab at crdi, im sure many modifications and adjustments are in order before this vehicle becomes reliable.
however in all fairness, it has good exterior and styling. but .......
Dropped by Chevrolet at Libis yesterday to take a closer look at the Captiva. In another thread i said i didn't fancy the looks of the Captiva (this impression was brought on by a limited glimsed at it during the motor show, i didn't hang around coz of the tons of people lurking around the display units). Changed my mind now after yesterday, it is quite handsome...IMHO better looking than the CRV or even the Rav-4.
True enough the accdg to the SA's the price is now pegged at 1.299M for the FWD & 1.499M for the AWD. Baguhin na kasi price sa webpage nila para di misleading!!!
Wanted to check if the 7-seater will be available soon...SA said no.
Exterior looks department is a thumbs up for me. Interior a bit plasticky and the slot where the NAVI system should be looks weird without it. Minus points on not having leather trims.
Good luck na lang sa kanila to try and sell a 1.2 ++ M unit without a test drive!! Accdg to them the display units are scheduled for rotation among the 13 dealers nationwide. For one, i will not spend my money without it.
btw. do you have any information if the horsepower figures below are accurate. when i compare these figures with the other manufacturers parang inflated:
captiva 2.0 dohc 150bhp*4000,
fortuner 2.5 dohc 102bhp*3600
sta. fe 2.2 dohc 150bhp*4000
tucson 2.0 dohc 112bhp*4000
i'm just curious why fortuner with a 2.5 engine can produce only 102 bhp while tucson and captiva with their 2.0 engines can produce 112bhp and 150 bhp respectively. does it mean toyota is so behind in crdi technology and hyundai and daewoo so advanced that they can produce more power out of smaller engines.
this is no diss. just pure unadulterated inquiry.
these are published figures from this site. and i compared them with the xerox brochure of captiva and they are the same:
http://www.motioncars.com/carchart/index.htm
im just wondering if the manufacturers are less than truthful about their claimed figures
Toyota actually has high-powered D4D engines.
The problem is, it's still examining whether it can bring them in here. Its european models get D4D engines that are competitive with the Koreans, but if Toyota were to bring them here, they would likely be outrageously expensive.
I haven't driven the Captiva far enough to comment on the power, but the estimate seems close. The Tucson, Santa Fe and Sorento all have punchy engines, with good top-end horsepower... for diesels.
The Toyota 2.5 D4D is only 102 hp. I'm not sure about the one in the Fortuner, but in the Innova, the engine doesn't come with an intercooler (which could account for about 10-20 hp of that discrepancy). It's an engine built for economy and for low-down torque, and it allows them to sell the Innova really cheap... although they're probably making a huge profit off of it, as the Kia Carens has a more sophisticated engine, a more expensive to manufacture unibody, and higher CBU taxes to contend with, and it still comes close to the Innova's price.
Ang pagbalik ng comeback...
kaya mataas ang hp ng Captiva CRDi is because of the VGT turbo installed
