this is no diss. just pure unadulterated inquiry.
The Captiva's diesel engine is a joint venture between by VM Motori S.p.A. and GM Powertrain.
Take note, this is the 1st all-new vehicle that was designed from the ground up after Daewoo became part of GM, so the Captiva uses GM technology and is in the same family as other GM Theta platform SUVs.

The Captiva is a really good alternative to the Honda CRV.. because of its CRDi engine...

looks like thisll be another hot car. problem lang tlga with GM is the aftersales service... hard to find pa ang piyesa.. but if ur not planning to keep this for more than 5 years, eh this is a good buy.

looks, & a 150hp CRDi engine? panalo na toh

bka may owners najan ng captiva, feedback pa po

i don't want to be a sorethumb here, but i played around with the inside of this car a month ago and i have to say that the interior material on this vehicle is cheapy-cheapy. its nothing impressive and will not delight you.

VM Motori is a highly regarded Italian designer and manufacturer of both industrial and automotive diesel engines. They are an OEM supplier of engines to GM, Chrysler, Alfa Romeo, Hyundai and even Toyota for certain Hi-lux and Land Cruiser models. GM has recently bought a 50% stake in VM Motori.

It's not the engine you should be worried about...its everything else!

Yeah... I know the 3.0 has the intercooler, just wasn't sure about the 2.5 version.

It's an interesting project for Innova owners... I'm pretty sure an intercooler upgrade (and it looks like there's a provision of space on top of the engine for one) will net you an extra 10-20 horses off the bat.

yeah thats a cool idea. but they dont have to cuz the innova's 2.5 turbo diesel engine is good enough.

It's torquey, yeah (haha... super off-topic na ito), but it could use some more "oomph".

And an intercooler upgrade should extend the life of the engine and turbo by keeping it cooler in traffic (as long as it's a front-mount intercooler).

    Maybe there's a shipment delay.

Cool ka lang... this kind of happens every time there's a new car that the company is anticipating high demand for... since the Philippines is a small market, we sometimes get shuffled aside in terms of shipments so the main office can appease more lucrative markets. It may not be the fault of the local office.

you cant trust a CASA who raises the prices 3 days after the launch tapos no stock. look elsewhere na lang parekoy.

    it's a sign.

Chevys problem isn't customer commitment but rather poor fuel economy and high prices of spare parts.

    two cons:

    - CASA who still thinks they're BMW
    - dirty fuel guinea pig test

All GM models made in or imported to Korea are badged as Daewoos, this is GM's domestic Korean brand just like what Holden is in Australia.
All of the GMDAT(GM Korea) vehicles are meant to be badged as Chevrolets for most of the markets, this explains why the concept versions of these vehicles are badged as Chevrolets.

I posted this a few times earlier... anyway here it is again, the Captiva is built on an updated version of GM's tried and tested GM Theta platform which it shares with the new Opel Antara.

The Captiva is sold in Australia/New Zealand as a Holden and as a Daewoo in Korea, in the other markets, its sold as a Chevy.
Currently the Equinox(Captivas older LWB brother) is the smallest Chevy in the US lineup, but since Canada has a bigger market for smaller vehicles compared to the US, there are plans to introduce the smaller Captiva there for the 2008 model year.

The Captiva is GMDAT's 1st model to be developed using GM's global platform. The other GMDAT models like the next Aveo and Optra will also be moved to GM global platforms.
