see my previous and ghosthunter's post. the units here came from the same factory that made the defective units so there is a possibility that your captiva or the cruze driving beside you contain the defects.
if Filipinos are wise enough to be aware of the updates... they should demand that their units be repaired for the defect. OR hindi nila bibilhin yung mga recalled units abroad.
1)resale value? from what I've read through these forums...
a)engine type: diesel or gas. usually mas mahal diesel
b)type of car: if it's a subcompact or pickup or whatever. mahal subcompacts at SUVs. mura mga midsize sedans
c)mileage: mataas ba o hinde?
d)condition: laspag ba o hinde? yung mga na ondoy mura lang yon
e)age: of course mag dedepreciate ang value ng auto over the years
f)brand/model perception: mataas ang value honda at toyota.
2)pwedeng bank, pwedeng insurance company... or yung seller mismo.
3)me? we recently looked for a car, eto basis namin:
a)is it practical? (so a sedan rather than a hatch)
b)is it easy to drive? (so a subcompact rather than compacts and an MPV, and no, tama na ang mga matatagtag na sasakyan muna)
c)is it easy to maintain? (lighter car should means less stress on the suspension...)
d)is it fuel efficient? (small engine, light body... we hope it is)
e)are there any particular problems with the specific model (researched online for recalls for the models we looked at, forums, official recalls... etc.)
f)is it available in red? (haha.)
we're not particular about the resale value... we like to keep our cars.
I'm not saying that people should avoid chevy for the low resale value. Come on, we bought a ford when they first came back. Kamusta naman yung value nung ranger, but we ended up with a rugged, dependable workhorse that's still kicking more than 10 years later.
It's just that there may be potential problems for the daewoo manufactured cruze and captiva.
another reason why we shied away from the cruze was one particular feedback from chevy owners here that the maintenance cost was approaching BMW-levels.

includes human factor, and the necessity of the buyer. anyway since resale value is nothing to you then there is no point of discussing it.

i find everything in captiva positive except (f). i thinks its not available in red.
thanks for your comments and concern. il keep my eye on my chevy for the potential problems you mentioned but so far i haven't had any problems with my captiva.
personally i had a good bargain on chevy shaw. its an agreenent that my PMS will only cost me PHP 6,000.00 every 10,000kms up to 40,000kms even if its already outside warranty. yun lang ingat lang talaga sa mga lubak-lubak.thanks again.[/SIZE]

ako gusto ko sana yan captiva diesel, pero talaga nakuryente na kami sa chevy eh never again.
answering yun post na bakit ang hyundai-kia ok ang workmanship pero yun sa daewoo hindi. syempre san ba napupunta yun mga former employees ng hyundai-kia. either sa sangyong or sa daewoo. since sangyong is no more, sa daewoo sila. could be disgruntled, resigned, terminated, or simply i want a new boss type of ego employees ang nasa daewoo.

ang swerte nga eh nabenta namin before the oil price hike yun tumaas ng sobra-sobra up to almost 59/liter petrol i think we were using the chevy at only average price pa noon na P30++/liter

April 9th, 2010 11:15 PM #47I'm a happy Captiva owner for 2 years already. logged in more than 50,000 km on the odo. had a problem with the harmonic balancer and was replaced by chevy quezon av right away. meron sila pyesa. Didn't pay a single penny. No problems til now. PMS is not bad. very much cheaper than going to Honda for PMS. just recently bought brake pads. mas mura pa keysa old Pajero pads ko and it's original pads. I'm a very satisfied owner, no complaints with ride, power and fuel consumption.

April 27th, 2010 11:38 PM #49Do you have comprehensive insurance? Check your records. Go to your casa and have it checked baka pwede replace yung mga sira na parts. Yun lang you have to pay for the participation fee. Sometimes it's cheaper to pay for the replacement and repair kung maliit lang than claiming through insurance. Magtanong tanong ka sa service center.

May 7th, 2010 02:35 AM #50if may insurance ka den probably participation fee lang ung babayaran mo. sa casa nman e walang problema pag paint lang problema ng bumper pero if malaki ang sira den baka ireplace nila ung bumper, not sure sa availability though. imo, chev q ave ang usualy may parts kasi dati kailangan palitan nung side mirror ko, naghanap ako sa lahat ng chev at sa q ave lang meron. sa mags nman if scratches lang e madali lang nila magagawa un, pero if very deep, d ko alam tanong mo nalang sa casa hehe
