True. Exceptional arrangement that I report directly to Germans in HQ so nobody bothers with me here in Manila. I don't go by their rules (example they have time in and time out - I don't) I am a one man team so I decide on everything. My work from home was also arranged with HR (others don't get that privilege) I get the best of both worlds in my job

I also hear from other staff and management that my bosses always speak well of me. That is why I am thankful that I already have VPs from other departments that want to take me in. I could go on and on about why I love my job and my bosses.

No company will let me get away with the sh1t I get away with in my current job. Even my own mother tells me, I would have been fired long ago in a different company.

If I will be getting a local boss, might as well leave the company na nga. Mag aadjust na rin lang ako, mag adjust na ko with a higher salary.

Re the redundancy, former management told me that the company will NOT offer this and force us to find a position within the company para makatipid. So I was given the tip to decline all roles and stay floating until I am offered redundancy. SO that means I have to wait for the package before I can apply in other companies. My fear is I might be jobless for a long time since I am in my late 30s already and PH companies are ageist diba.

I can't describe the emotional pain I am going through right now. One of the reasons I went back to PH is because I love this job so much. This is the only good thing in my life right now tapos mawawala pa. Sabi nga ng friend ko na first job sa company, almost a third of her life she dedicated to this company (same for me)

I am so thankful for this company because this is where I met my friends/bosses, made wonderful memories, great experiences and financial independence. It's so sad to see it from its glory days to the state it is in now. I would have retired in this company, pero wala e. Sabi nga ng head ng Manila it seems like destiny is pushing me to go beyond this job.

This is a gloomy development, but then it is still all about choices.

My suggestion is to take Option3,- tama for now ang suggestion to decline all reassignments and push them to the limit,- until they decide to make you redundant (talo-asar).

Then, with your stash, take Option4 and enjoy the rest of your personal and professional life.

yup 3 months na lang allowed ang floating status..

D.O 174 likewise reduced the period upon which an employee may be placed on floating status or the period before an employee may be separated on ground of redundancy after payment of separation pay. The six (6) months period under D.O 18-A has been reduced to three (3) months under the new regulation.

Thanks doctor. I'm sure you know I think highly of doctors. My Dad who I love more than anyone else in the world wanted me to be one pero hindi ko napagbigyan. It's a noble job and I see it as vocation but it takes strength of character to be a doctor. I can't imagine myself around people with health problems and the responsibility to solve it. That would drive me crazy.

Hindi ko naman kailangan ng mayaman, that's just a bonus if he earns a lot. I am happy to be able to maintain my lifestyle.

Alam ko maraming maiinis na naman Months ago, I wondered how crush is doing so I decided to google him and I found out that he is one of the TOP 5 HIGHEST PAID EXECUTIVE OFFICERS! (Sorry can't say the industry for obvious reasons) I knew he was Top dog but not to that extent, such a modest man. So apparently, kahit 4 na housewife kaya niyang buhayin and just as my spanish group said - now that's a REAL MAN! That's just his salary and does not include income from business and other investments. Idol ko talaga si crush, he really has hit sh1t together. Hope I meet another man like him

as per our labor laws, they can only float you for a maximum of 6 months (i think this was reduced to 3 months).. after that they need to retrenched you.

The turn over to India starts next week and they want it completed by June. My question is, when are we technically floating, is it from the time of the announcement that our jobs will be outsourced, is it the start or the turnover or is it after the turnover is completed

Everyone was commenting na bumalik ako from US for this job only to lose it But then lahat naman kami mawawalan, thank God I have ZERO loans and debt, otherwise baka na nervous breakdown ako.

I am 80% decided to decline all assignments and wait for the redundancy offer. My friend who is former head of Manila, told me I better leave the company, things don't look good. Baka mamaya biglang mag exit ng Manila, lalo pa ko mawalan ng retirement. They've outsourced so many departments to India. I work for back office and thought we were going to be safe and yet this is what happened...

Anyway, at least you have choices, some people either take it (transfer to India) or leave it.

But they got rid of the profit centers first that were not generating profit

We were all shocked because we're with finance and we were always told that finance/reporting will be safe from the job cuts.

India is out of the question for me, even to train the new resource, doubtful pa ko if I wanna go.

I wonder if she's eligible for redundancy if she declines the jobs or depende sa kompanya yun. May ganyan na kasi samin dati, they will look for positions for you and hindi ka pwede for redundancy if you decline kasi technically there is a job for you, bakit ka mafofloating or redundiate? But because kelangan pa rin nilang applyan yung position, ang ginagawa ng iba hindi ginagalingan hoping wag sila makuha. Pero pag inoffer sayo, either you take it or resign.

Does your company have a defined retirement plan? Assuming you are qualified, go for it plus the redundancy package (dapat hiwalay). Hopefully, the severance offer is attractive enough (at least 1 month pay for every year of service and tax free).

Worked in India for a couple of months. It isn't as bad as how people take it to be. Expat life, particularly in Bombay (aka Mumbai) is actually pretty good. Our salaries are definitely higher than the mean there (compared to people in the same role, of course).



Is it dangerous? Depends on the location, I'd say Manila (I do mean the city and not Metro Manila) is generally more dangerous than any big city in India.

Is it dangerous for women? Urban areas (big cities) are generally pretty safe for women.

Would I stay there for a year? Yes, if I were to be taken in as an expat with housing and a driver.



Off-topic: the oft-repeated saying "If you can drive in Manila, you can drive anywhere" is definitely not true, Indian roads are far more maddening.

Culture shock pinaka hassle na kalaban pag India.

Kakain ka ng breakfast at 10 AM, lunch at 3-4 PM, and Dinner at 10-11 PM.

Walang convenience stores, walang establishments na open past 1 AM for late night cravings.

Traffic is better but the drivers are the worst.

Hirap makahanap ng pork and beef.
