Yes dr, I already got offers from other departments but it will be lateral (same title and salary) I was supposed to be promoted this year but everyone in our department lined up for promotion will start from scratch so that's really disappointing. Kaya I wanna be given a separation package na lang

I am so confused! Last week my current VP boss talked to the VP of branch if he can give me an AVP role since this was the plan before our department was outsourced.

Today I got a call from the VP of branch that there is an open role in Accounting but since I am a "transferee" I can't get the promotion this year and I will start from scratch in the evaluation (this is an HR rule) The VP said this is actually a secret kasi it is a manager role for upgrade to AVP so he wants me there

What a coincidence that crush just told me about this TODAY and Egan also mentioned the same! (VPs open roles for each other, parang tulungan yan)

I am flattered and very thankful that they are doing everything to keep me pero ang gusto ko talaga ma redundant, I'm 70% na mas gusto ko yun pero NAHIHIYA ako sa mga bosses because of all this, they are looking for positions to retain me. I also learned that there is like a Top 20 list (we have a bell curve) in the department that was circulated those in the list are getting a lot of offers.

Another consideration of mine, yung sa accounting kasi babae boss, I prefer lalaki talaga kasi mas madali kausap haha. Saka yung head nila strict daw :P It's a controller role, parang ganda pakinggan LOL! Also, I will have people under me, currently kasi specialist ako, so even if I am manager, I have no direct reports (which I prefer)

My VP boss told me that I should stay because I might have a hard time looking for a job in this pandemic and also, he plans to get me to head office if there will be a new opening in his team. Currently kasi nagbabawas sila sa head office.

Should I stay or should I go? Nahihiya ako sa mga boss, I keep rejecting the roles.

Easy answer - stay.

Unlikely to find a good job in this pandemic. And even if you do, there's always a learning curve so it takes a while to establish yourself and build equity in a new company as opposed to moving to a new role within the same company.

In my experience with various international banks, they had to "promote" their customer facing officers to AVP in order to get the respect of the clients, especially major investors. My point is, take the redundancy route as the promotion offer is just to avoid the severance payment and force you to take on a bigger role until you decide to quit.

My personal opinion though.

You mean they will promote me to AVP knowing that I cannot handle the role so I will quit in the end? If they want to manage out a person they will just transfer to a crap role and manager pero they will not promote since we have very few AVP roles in the org

Also, I was lined up for AVP last year pa and I am already reporting direct to a VP since 2016, I could not be promoted right away because of the tenure requirement. I went on sabbatical kaya automatic disqualified, but the promotion was one of the reasons why I came back to Manila aside from my family and crush

They don't want to give me redundancy and my VP is convincing me to stay, kaya lahat ng role na bigay nila tinatanggihan ko, pero nahiya na ko when the VP of branch called me I like that guy, super talino UP BA A grad!!!
