I used the map of roadguide.ph (non-contributor) and wala pa dun yun elevated u turn ng c5 kalayaan sa maps. When I saw the AVT GPS kuha nya pati yun mga Uturn slots ng MMDA. I am not sure kung kuha din ng contributor edition ng Road Guide maps yun mga uturn slots.

The Contributor's map has updated U-turn slots... including the elevated one on C5.

Yes, sir. Roadguide and OSM maps are Garmin-compatible.

Mura if you compare it with the more established brands like Garmin. But, it's new in the market, so it's up to you if you want to take the risk.

i dont think its cheap, mas mura kung bibili ka sa US, you can get a garmin nuvi 255w for 8thou pesos there. I haven't seen a xenon gps, but have been using the garmin nuvi more than a year and it is really reliable.

Maybe not a bargain, but it costs less to buy it here than having to GO to the USA and buying it from there, or ordering it online and having to pay shipping.

*Tholitz: But, if your timing is right, you can ask someone already going to the USA (or already there) to buy one for you. That's how I acquired my Nuvi 255W (Canada nga lang).

I meant, it's cheaper to buy the Xenon here than buying Garmin from USA, even without shipping charges. Although Tholitz understood what I meant, I just want to clarify my statement.

i have already installed the garmin XT software to my treo and when i run it there is an option that says Enter product key" and "connect to a garmin GPS"...

does this mean i can't use my pda as a gps?...sorry cause am really not a techie kind and i don't have enough know-how about this..if so, what gps receiver would you suggest?...

one more thing is i could not install the mapsource.it says "previous mapsource not found"..since i don't originally have the mapsource on my pc.

Hello, prince777. Sorry for the very late reply. I wasn't able to check the forums for several months because of problems at work. I still have problems ... but a bit more time to goof around.

First, a bit of explanation. If you buy Garmin Mobile XT (which is on an SD card and comes with a detailed map), the product key is on the SD card. It will work with any GPS receiver that can connect to your device.

If you use the downloadable version of Garmin Mobile XT (from the Garmin website), it only comes with a worldwide base map (major roads only). Here's where the roadguide.ph map comes into play ... because it's free and doesn't need a product number to use. The (small) problem is, that version of GMXT will only work with Garmin GPS receivers. The solution is to use a crack so GMXT can "see" the non-Garmin receiver.

Google for the jetmouse keygen (at least v1.3). It basically puts your device's unique ID number as a text file which you have to put into the /Garmin folder. HTH

I don't think the iPhone 2G has GPS capabilities... it has GPS software which uses your data connection similar to Google Maps. Correct me if I am wrong please.

Wala nga talaga ... the iPhone 2G doesn't have a built-in GPS receiver. The iPhone 3G and 3GS do.

With the release of OS version 3.0 mid-year, Apple had removed its restrictions that prevented the earlier iPhone OS from having a full and proper navigation application. Kaya nagsulputan bigla mga iPhone version ng iGO, CoPilot, etc. ... though I haven't seen a Garmin version yet.

Here's my 3G with Tomtom. It now does its job as a backup satnav very well.

Guys... it is really working here in the Philippines... i have a friend whos selling this stuff... and its great... if you wanted to buy 1 please let me know I can help you... it has a 6 months warranty, GARMIN map they are using...

in short answer, you can use the GPS here but there is no GPS map available for the philippines (yet).

But this position will still take my eyes away from the road.

To minimize that, I use the voice function of the GPS where it will say the directions to the destination. I just look at the GPS when I am at a stoplight or other safe moments.

2. It's behind the darkened area of the windshield (above the AS-1 line), practically hidden from prying eyes outside

I tried emulating this, but I prefer placing it just above the dashboard, stuck to the windshield. I don't mind having to reach out when saving locations or whenever I need to input anything, and it doesn't really obstruct my view, plus having it near my point of view center line allows me to look at it more safely (compared to having it near the mirror) from time to time.

As to hiding it from prying eyes outside, it's not an issue -- I always remove the mount before leaving the car in public places anyway and I carry the unit with me (I don't leave any valuables inside vehicles anymore -- burned too many times by bukas-kotse gangs). Helps to avoid getting marks on the tint, too.

noted sir SS....unfortunately the GPS mobile 20 that I had does not have the software in it or it's just my unit that can't recognize the card.

Voice prompt/function keeps me company especially when all the passengers in our van are sleeping.... "Recalculating"....
