OT: Thats part of life. Not to mention pati food mahal din doon compared to us. Probably for me if gas goes up to P60 I am definitely going to start commuting maybe 3X a week then use the car 2X a week....

    OT na din.

Tidus is correct. Mas mura ang gas nila dun. In fact, my parents just arrived from NY last week. Cost is around $ 3/gallon or roughly around Php 31.50/liter. Mura din ang house because of the mortgage crisis that they are experiencing there wherein there are lots of houses that are for disposal.

Mga oil traders (who sit and trade in front of their computers) and speculators ang may influence sa prices.

And to top it all, dami galit (according to CNN) sa mga record profits ng Shell, BP, etc ..

Wala kang mabibiling matinong bahay for that amount even though their housing bubble has popped unless sa mga provinces ka bibili yung mga Idaho, Montana etc...

thats true, prices in the US are more than here... yung gas lang talaga ang prob dito.

i think tidus idea is ok rin, yung alternate use of cars and public transportation. at least fridays and weekends para kung may gimik after work... your not using public transportation during the wee hours of the night.

ang taas na talaga ng gas ngayon, to think before the cost per liter is around php 25 tapos ngayon ibang klase yung pagtaas.... parang its a true sign that the resources are getting scare.

either way wala tayong magagawa mga developing country (3rd rate) kung tumaas ang dollars apektado pa rin tayo, fuel prices will not go down dahil dollarrs din ang pagbili ng mga oil cos dito..so no choice talaga but to use public transport more..hehehe

bakasyun eh, what can you expect? no student commuters therefore less PUVs on the road, less PUV on the roads, no Traffic!

and also no classes, therefore no baon, therefore no panggastos sa malls, therefore wala gano delivery and importation. alam naman natin it's the age bracket 15-28 ang nagpapagalaw ng Malls.

sa private motorists naman, halos 30% of private car owners are abroad or in vacation kaya hindi nagagamit tsikot nila.

i wouldn't be surprised pagdating ng June baba ang presyo bec. volume is high na eh
This must be a new form of economic theory. From what I learned, the law of supply and demand is the exact opposite: Prices are high when there is a lot of demand for a particular product, and stays low when there is no market for it.

Ringo, is your "hollow-earth theory" patented already? You should publish your ideas asap, so people would know how hopelessly ignorant you are!, este, so more people can be enlightened (me lets out a loud guffaw).

iba talaga world view ni ringostarr...

    ---------------

sinasabi ba sa news "Oil hit $120 a barrel in futures trading due to low crude stockpiles in the Philippines" ???

"Oil hit a record high of $120 a barrel today due to strong demand from the Philippines because of the summer driving season, analysts say"

    hahahaha

The Philippines is soooooo damn small even if we do not buy oil for a whole year, it wouldnt affect oil price.

The US, Japan, China, India... anyone of them can easily absorb what we don't buy.

The oil companies are helpless too.

    They buy oil from producers.

The producers themselves cannot set oil price.

They can only increase or decrease supply, which affects the price of oil.

actually i've been practicing the 2x a week commute for years now. mas matipid talaga sya. pero ok lang sya pag yung sasakyan mo is point to point at malapit lang ang mga sakayan. in my case kasi, yung sakayan ng van at fx walking distance lang from my home and office. pagbaba ko, office or bahay na agad.
