You might have mis-understood. Speedlab's tuning service is NOT your 5000km tune up or maintenance job. It is a method of optimizing your engine's performance by adjusting the fuel and ignition system. This is what is normally done to sports and performance oriented cars.
The main problem with auto-lpg installation shops is they cannot tune the auto-lpg kit to run at optimum level. They can get it to run at a competent level and for most purposes, it is satisfactory. But that means there is a margin where improvements can be done by doing fine tuning what is already on the car, including the auto-lpg systems.
It might have been better if you had converted your car first before mo napapinturahan. So any tubings and holes that the convertion may add may be repaired and repainted with the rest of your carPero its ok, kasi yan din ginawa ko. Body repair first before conversion. Pero yun nga sinabi sa akin ng nagconvert ng car ko, might have been better to convert first before repainting.
I just filled up my car with LPG last weekend. After installation, I filled the tank up to 'no flo' at 23.92 liters. Last weekend, full tank was at 37.69 liters. My tank's capacity is at 40 liters only. Correct me if I'm wrong with this since this is just my 2nd full tank, I am assuming that my readings are still inaccurate. My fuel consumption for LPG was around 8.3 kms/liter vs 11-12 kms/liter when I was using petrol. Still trying to eliminate all possible factors one at a time with my reduced fuel consumption. I was expecting to get at least 10 kms/liter. My suspects for the low FC might be a combination of the following.
1) Still using my old spark plugs prior to conversion
2) Changed my driving style to test my first taste of LPG powered car hence the more aggressive driving.
3) Petrol tank is still at full
4) Additional weight from LPG tank and full tank of autogas
5) Extra weight of my existing subwoofer
6) Need for retuning of the venturi-mixer kit for optimized condition
My air filter is the cone type and had it thoroughly cleaned before the conversion. My car is a 98 Corolla GLi.
You should try computing the FC based on the average of a few weeks simply because the LPG refueling automatic stop isn't exact and would fill more on cold days and stop earlier on hot days.
The weight of your car might be part of the cause of the FC result you got if you drive in a more hilly area. IF it's mostly level roads, it shouldn't have that big of an effect.
But my main suspect would be your air-filter. Even when cleaned well, it still result in more restriction than a brand new filter.
A venturi-mixer system seems to be more tolerant to older sparkplugs as long as it's not tuned to run too lean.
my petrol tank is at 1/4 ....... i only drive within metro manila .... no hills for me ...... had a change oil and new spark plugs as well as bnew air filter a day before the LPG installation. I always drive alone and feel the weight of the tank has not much to do with the FC.
as of now the pressure guage at the tank indicates about 1& 1/2 line (1 LED lit)..... 6 lines i think is full ....... i'm only up to 190kms ...... still can't guesstimate but not optimistic at this point .... is there a calibration necessary ? i think i'll consume the rest of my LPG left in the tank in a day or two.
bakit hirap mag-shift from lpg to gasoline? mine is a closed-loop venturi mixer system. tried to shift from lpg to gasoline at 2.5k rpm namamatay makina. new air filter and sparkplugs. was retuned by the installer. worked for a while tapos balik ulit sa dati. what seems to be the problem? anybody who had the same experience? very disappointed.![]()
Shifting from LPG to gasoline would result in a momentary over-rich air-fuel mixture with your venturi mixer kit. Have you tried removing your air-filter and trying to switch over again?
In my setup, currently the LPG kit was tuned when the filter was new so it operates almost the same way even with the air filter removed totally. But there was a time when I was using a dirty cone filter when the LPG kit was tuned. Runs well for a short while. Removing the filter caused the engine to run rough or even stall. If it sounds familiar, try testing by removing your air filter and switch from LPG to petrol.
Try it out a couple of refills. You only converted your Altis a few days ago based on the roll-call posting.
If you still want to have your LPG kit re-tuned, I suggest heading over to SPEEDLAB and have it professionally done. Look for Ferman.
The alternative is to go back to GREENFUEL and let them set your LPG kit to run slightly leaner. But they will still suggest to you to drive it a few weeks to get a feel of the LPG system and to get a better FC figure. One or two tanks doesn't give an accurate FC figure yet.

this thread has gone a long way. i've seen a lot of skeptics and naysayers. lalu na sa gitna ng thread. wonder if carbomb still is skeptic about lpg. as for me i am sold. i'll get my car fitted asap.
Hi abetg. Is your kit EROOM (from Denso)? I also have a closed loop kit (EROOM), and used to have idling problems, leading to the engine stalling. Changed plugs, changed filters, etc, but problem persisted. In the end, the Koreans were able to trace it back to a possibly loose tubing, and air-fuel adjustments leading to the aircon. As it turns out, air intake changes when aircon is turned on or off.
Galing nung Korean (David Do). As long as you're able to show them the problem onsite, hindi niya tatantanan. In my case, I took them for a test drive, but the problem did not manifest (bwisit nga eh, biglang ang ganda nung takbo during test drive). Buti na lang he was able to recreate the problem when turning the aircon off (while idling). I would never have thought it was aircon related, kasi namamatayan ako more when I'm braking. From there, he twisted a few knobs, and voila! Never na ako namatayan uli!
Sorry, haba kuwento ko. Bottomline, if EROOM yan, bring it to their Highway54 office, and have them tune it there.
Parang nag Chochoke... Akin din ganun specially pag morning start from gas tapos when you step on the Gas ayaw umangat hangang 2K lang pero after awhile magiging ok na... while running naman ganun din from LPG to Gas mag chochoke siya then hindi aangat yung rpm above 2K...
nakakainis lang sa eroom.. parang may pagkaincompetent ung mga mekaniko nila sa makati branch nila. i had my car converted there and was very unsatisfied. i had to bring it to them for retuning twice because of very low mileage. i usually get 12-14 km/L city/hway on petrol. and on LPG it dropped to 7- 8.5 city/hway. they said it should only drop by 10 percent and mine dropped to 40%. had the idling problems too. after 2 trips to have it retuned, i still got the same problems. and i got tired of going back to them. triny ko kalikutin ung air mixture ko, not the LPG kit. and after a seried of test runs, it solved both of my problems. my FC improved to 8-10 km/L city/hway. and no more idling problems. still not too happy with their kit. but for now, it will do. i'm still busy kc to go to their other branch.
anyway, to answer abetg's question. No, you won't need to pay anything when you bring it to that branch.
NIKY's Ford Lynx RS 2.0L
Taken from:

Finally got the car done. Just too many things to do, too little time... brakes, radiator, thermostat, O2 sensor... etcetera... but with all that out of the way, Auto_Xer was finally able to do the LPG conversion and tuning.
A stock Lynx makes approximately 113 whp on the Dastek dyno.
This car does 151.9 whp on gasoline, and 144.2 whp on LPG.
As you can see from the curve, on LPG, the car makes about as much or a tiny bit more (little variations of 1-2 hp are pretty meaningless) at low rpms.
This work was done by Auto_Xer, who tuned the car on the Unichip on gasoline, optimizing both fuel and timing maps. Then, using a computer to directly interface with the SGI LPG kit of Greenful, he tweaked the fuel maps on LPG for best performance. This is the result.
You don't need a tuned car or a modified car to do all of this. Speedlab can now tune your SGI LPG kit (as long as it's from Greenfuel or as long as the vendor will lend their tuning laptop) to run at nearly 100% the power it makes on gasoline. As you can see from the chart, the Lynx only loses power significantly near redline, where it's only 7 hp off. Everywhere else, the difference is just 1-3 hp... and it's sometimes higher.
This service should cost the same as regular tuning and dyno time at speedlab. You can inquire at http://www.speedlab.com.ph/

EDIT: Tree'd!
As an addendum to that post:
When tuned professionally, it seems that LPG can make almost exactly as much power as gasoline. Note that it's only at redline that my car is making more power on gasoline... elsewhere, the difference is so little it doesn't matter. If you can tell the difference between 125 whp and 123 whp at 5000 rpm, you've got a very sensitive butt.
While dyno-tuning will cost you a bit (Ferman will likely charge you dyno-rates... about 5000 per hour), the ability to get your LPG from 80-90% as powerful as gas to about 99% as powerful as gas is a fantastic thing.
For now, Ferman can only do Greenfuel SGI vehicles, and you'll have to schedule it so Greenfuel can lend the computer... but if your vendor is willing to lend him their tuning laptop, he can do almost any electronic LPG kit.![]()

Ang pagbalik ng comeback...
hi niky, tanong ko lang.. how much did it cost you to have your car tuned from speedlab?
sir GH pwede kaya EROOM kits dito?
i just got my altis from greenfuel today and so far everything is working smoothly.
