Hello GH. As promised, i am finally reporting to all tsikoteers on the peso savings of my LPG fueled car.

I had mine installed last May 19, 2008 in Pampanga by CAT-GAS for 21k.

I will be posting pictures soon.

    Car : 1998 RAV4 4 door
LPG kit: Mixer type, China brand
Tank: Cylindrical tank (maybe around 50 liters)

    E10 Unleaded (Shell) STATISTICS:

    Distance run: 33.3 KM
    Money spent: P245.89
    E10 consumed: 5.13 liters
Distance travelled per liter: 6.50 KM/L
    Peso/KM: 7.38

    LPG STATISTICS:

    Period Covered: 19 May 2008 to 7 June 2008
    Distance run: 1139.30 KM
    Money spent: P5,825.10
    LPG consumed: 205.19 liters
Distance travelled per liter: 6.088 KM/L
    Peso/KM: 4.83
Fuel Loss (LPG compared to E10 unleaded): 6% loss
    Savings: 41%

    PESO SAVINGS: 4,985.03.

So far, i have saved P4,985.03. I will update my progress from time to time. My car drives 60% city and 40% highway (NLEX).

I am also considering installing LPG on my wifey's car. So far, i am still canvassing on SGI kits price.

Well somebody should start posting their savings on fuel since they switched to lpg

My wife's crv had SGI system installed almost a year ago July '07 based on my consumption I saved almost Php54,000 more or less. My conversion is around Php39,000 so I have actually saved Php15,000 already and I am looking to save probably Php30,000 more by the end of this year. Pwede na pang HK

My xtrail was installed a year and a half ago January '07 based on my consumption I saved Php74,000. My conversion is Php39,000 so I actually saved Php25,000 already and on top of that I will be saving another Php40,000 by the end of the year. Pwede na pang tuition

My Revo fitted with an open loop venturi system. My sales agent uses this to travel around city and going all the way to batangas and back on weekend. The system was fitted last year around June '07 saved the company around PHp65,000 since instatllation. Cost of installation is about Php25,000. Total net savings to date Php45,000 by the end of the year total net savings around PHp75,000. Not bad

Again the choice is in your hands, we can whine about gasoline prices going up but this is beyond our control even the President of the US can't do anything about it.

There are some guys obsessed with speculating where oil prices will go but no one really knows. If it falls then well and good. I will be happy as this is what we all want.

In the meantime, pockets are being drained.

When I converted my vehicles the price disparity of auto-lpg was only about PHp10 now it is close to Php25. Who knows where this is going

    Have a nice day

It might be helpful if you can also include the name of the company doing the auto-LPG installation...

Has anyone tried converting an EXPEDITION into LPG? Can I use the 40k SGI system on it or is there like a special EXPE LPG kit?

Although you can use a SGI kit in a Ford XP... it requires a bit more than the standard kit. Typical conversions for Ford XPs costs over P50K to P80K depending on installer.

after back reading this thread, am now convinced to convert my ride ('95 Lancer EFI), my only concern now is where. I've actually talked to 1 of the installer recommended here, he suggested that I use openloop type since my engine does not support O2 sensor (pre-2000 model EFI does not have O2 sensor). All along i was thinking to have SGI, with this new development i would save a lot in the installation. My question is would an openloop be really enough? I mean wont I get better results with SGI? I read in 1 of the posts here that openloop is a no-no for cars with catalytic conv. Wouldnt i get problems if i continue installing openloop?

How about my ecu, wouldnt it get error codes? hindi kaya mag check engine light ako? I travel 90++ Km daily and i predict that i would save about 3-4K a month in fuel costs. sulit pa din.

Please advice naman. Might have my ride converted early next week. Thanks.

Last Q na, saan ba pinaka mura ang pa-install na reliable at pulido ang gawa? Naiads ba ok? may nakita na ko kanina sa pasay, baka mag inquire din ako tomorrow.

    thanks.

It is possible to have an oxygen sensor installed in your exhaust headers/piping and link that to the SGI's ECU if you are that determined to get an SGI system. Some auto-LPG installers would offer that service.

Or you can still install a SGI system but it will be operating in open-loop mode (no feedback from oxygen sensor). It can be tuned by an external wideband oxygen meter to match your engine's "normal" operation.

But using an open-loop mixer kit isn't so bad. Although there is some issues like maintaining a clean air-filter for best operation, there wouldn't be any real problems if you do use an openloop system (unless you travel to area of high altitude like Baguio).

More basic EFI engines are easily converted to auto-LPG since it's not as "touchy" as more modern EFI engines equipped with factory oxygen sensor and other sensors on the engine.

I won't suggest NAIADSS as there are other installers with better service these days.

Below is the tsikot.com list of auto-LPG installers and refueling stations in Metro Manila. Use it to help you contact auto-LPG installers. My recommendation is GREENFUEL.

Typical setup I would recommend would be the venturi-mixer type with efi emulator auto-lpg kit with donut tank.

    I would recommend GREENFUEL.

You can find their contact info (and others as well) listed in the link below:

The LPG installer at E. Rodriguez is called Thermoline, the contact person is Mr. Ronnie Valdezco. Their tel. nos. are 387-2134, 09228271659. Sir GH, they use the FEMA (not sure of the spelling) brand from Italy for their open loop system with EFI emulator. Is this a good brand? Do you also recommend this shop as a reputable installer?

Unfortunately I haven't heard of this company nor the brand of LPG they are using. So I can't say if they are good nor bad.

are there any mathematical analysis that can show us how much can i really save in using LPG in our vehicles?
i'll make an experiment if theres none.

Ive seen the Clean Autogas people convert an F-150 with an SGI kit. I suppose the same setup will work well with an expedition.

just take your monthly petrol consumption and multiply it by the difference in price between petrol and auto-lpg and you'll get your monthly savings when you go auto-lpg.
If you want to check your payback period. Divide the cost of the kit by the monthly savings (as computed earlier) and you'll get the number of months to recover the kit.

To Blizzard, think of it this way. Since you have to load your car with gas everytime you will be using it, the amount you will spend will be consumed while if you convert to LPG now, you will be spending less by Php 26.00. Now that amount of 26 pesos instead on going to waste on petrol gas, you can use that as a way to of Return on Investment in the LPG Installation. It may be shorter or longer depending on how open you use your car. In the long run, you will save a lot of money while you drive and not worry too much on the price increase which is every weekend.
