just came from toyota quezon ave. Macro is their authorized lpg installer. According to the guy I talked to its the factory that designated Macro. If somebody else does the conversion, warranty for items touched by the kit may be void. They will have to check what caused the failure. If it was lpg related or not. But I get the feeling that they will blame lpg. He further said that so far they have not encountered any problems with lpg.

Just wanted to update you guys on my conversion.

I had my 2008 Ford Lynx AT converted at Green Autogas (Sharon Siy 0917-5467000) near Trinoma last May 5, 2008. I decided to convert here because I have the same car as Redman7. My service/conversion experience was quite good. Clean installation. It took almost 2 days to convert. I am very happy with my conversion.

Power is just the same even on uphills. Redman7, your LPG mode is more powerful than gasoline?? Anyways, am already satisfied with having the same power as before. More importantly, the cost savings are great!

    Cost per liter

    Gasoline: P7.8/km (P51/liter).

    LPG: P4.5/km (P27/liter).

    Savings of over 40%!

Sorry my cost comparison is outdated. This was during 1st to 2nd week of May 2008.

Quite expensive initially but I know it a wise investment My only regret... maybe I should have opted for the donut tank instead. Redman7, I want a box similar to yours. How much did it cost to fabricate the cabinet and where? Thanks in advance!

Looks like the govt will try to help public transport convert to lpg

4 gov't departments mobilized to implement Biofuels Act
    06/16/2008 | 08:02 PM

MANILA, Philippines - President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo has mobilized four government agencies to oversee the conversion of vehicle engines from using fossil fuel to alternative fuel as decreed by the Biofuels Act.

A Malacaņang statement Monday said President Arroyo gave the order at the launching of the hybrid buses, LPG and CNG driven vehicles at the One Esplanade at the SM Central Business Park Bay in Pasay City.

Covered by the order are the Departments of Energy (DOE), Transportation and Communication (DOTC), Trade and Industry (DTI) and Science and Technology (DOST).

The launching of the alternative-fuel vehicles coincided in the 21st anniversary celebration of the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB).

President Arroyo in her speech assured transport groups that the national government will try to meet its target of 10,000 units of passenger jeeps whose engines will be LPG-powered soonest.

She ordered Energy Secretary Angelo Reyes to convert all government vehicles from oil to LPG-run engines, as government vehicles comprise 21 percent of the total volume of vehicles in the country.

She said one passenger bus needs some P200,000 to convert its engine into alternative-fuel run engine, while P70,600 is needed to convert a passenger jeep to an LPG-powered engine.

She added that under the modernization program for public land transport industry, the fund for the conversion of diesel to LPG engine will be sourced out from the P1-billion Special Vehicle Pollution Control Fund (SVPCF) of the DOTC.

Under the program, the government will initially pay the P70,600 for the conversion kit for the passenger jeep. The driver/operator will pay the government through installment basis of P80 a day.

President Arroyo urged drivers andoperators to start visiting any Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP) and Philippine Postal Bank (PPB) branch and file a loan for the conversion of their diesel engine jeep into LPG.

She said the fund for the conversion of diesel to LPG program, Student Assistance Fund for Education for a Strong Republic (SAFE4SR), and the ongoing P500 power subsidy for the families who are consuming below 100 kilowatt hour monthly is the fruit extracted from the value added tax (VAT).

On the global economic slowdown, oil and rice price increases, the President said it has a big impact on the lives of the people, especially to those belonging to the marginalized sector of society.

She then asked Transportation Secretary Leandro Mendoza and LTFRB Chairman Thompson Lantion to supervise the awarding of certificates for the conversion of diesel to LPG to five transport groups as initial beneficiaries of the program.

Recipients of the certificate for diesel to LPG conversion are the Pasang Masda, Makati Jeepney Operators and Drivers Association (MJODA), Caloocan Jeepney Operators and Drivers Association (CANJODA), Pambansang Kalipunan ng mga Kooperatibang Pangsasakyan (PKKP), and Mega Manila Operators and Drivers Alliance (MMODA).

Earlier, Arroyo broke ground for a proposed grand terminal for the PUV s using alternative fuels, hybrid bus run by compressed natural gas (CNG), airport taxi with meter-issuing receipt, and public utility jeepney (PUJ) run with liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) at the vacant lot in front of the One Esplanade.

She lowered the time capsule to signal the start of the construction of the grand transport terminal and inspected the hybrid and CNG buses, PUJs with engines already converted into LPG, buses run by LPGs, and taxi run by LPG.

Lantion said the objective of the project is to raise the income of the public transportation drivers as well as strengthen the implementation of the Clean Air Act Law.

He added that the project will also promote the use of alternative fuels that are environment-friendly and economical, promote and protect the environment against air pollution, lessen the demand of diesel, and increase the income of PUJ operators and drivers. - GMANews.TV
Hope this encourages Shell and Caltex to start retailing autogas. And who knows maybe one day we will have autogas available in the provinces.

Hi Sharon's station and location are easy to find. The Velco gasoline station is right in front of the Veteran's Hospital Golf Course. I just came from there to have my car checked. They drained and cleaned up my system for free Their conversion shop is filled with cars and their business really looks like its picking up!

Now that amount of 26 pesos instead on going to waste on petrol gas, you can use that as a way to of Return on Investment in the LPG Installation. It may be shorter or longer depending on how open you use your car. In the long run, you will save a lot of money while you drive and not worry too much on the price increase which is every weekend.
    thanks..
is the covered mileage using auto-LPG is the same as just using just gasoline fuel, considering same amount of fuel will be used, lets say 10L?

yes assuming its an SGI kit. Slightly less for venturi-mixer type auto-lpg kits.

For other basic questions, I strongly suggest you to read the auto-LPG discussion thread because chances are 99% of your questions would already have been answered three dozen times over.

We inquired at a conversion center in C.Raymundo, Pasig called Gensoko or something like that. I plan to have a donut tank and put it outside the van, to replace the spare tire under the van, just like Teb's Fortunner --> http://bigbigcar.com/boards/Default....51&find=unread
But according to them, that's illegal and the tank must be inside the vehicle. Does anyone here know if it's true?

    short answer: no

actually there are kits to convert diesel engines to run a mix od diesel and lpg. not sure if available locally. if it is available, expect it to cost a lot. also since you will be burning a mox of lpg and diesel, savings may not be that much.

best way to do it would be to change engine to gas then convert to lpg. medyo hassel and expensive. plus you may be wasting a perfectly good engine

i believe putting the tank underneath and outside the vehicle is not illegal. if they would not allow for you to put it outside, maybe it's better to get your conversion done in some other place.

has anyone experienced an involuntary idling (revving ) on your LPG powered vehicle?

it's like revving your engine (on P or N mode) without stepping on the gas pedal. (switch back to petrol, same thing occurs)

    had an experience once

i think (guess) it's not an LPG related problem

the installer suggested to remove the fuse (of the LPG device)

switch on the engine, same thing happens (now at constant 2000 rpm )

    must head to mechanic soon.
