mga bossing,

going thru the thread, i read that LPG burns cleaner so the car goes thru longer change oils and tune-ups. so can we add this up to the computation for the ROI?

93 octane has reached 44.20 in my area, one of the lowest i've seen in the metro.... sigh... but with my travel pattern, converting to lpg will take a very long time to ROI since i average 600kms a month only. the only positive thing i see to convert to lpg is environmental.

The problem with SGI LPG kits is that the kit is expensive hence the longer ROI period.

The better alternative is the closed loops system currently offered by DENSO/COOLMATE Corp.

As mentioned by Mike, his kits are priced at P24,000 to P25,000 depending if your car is equipped with oxygen sensors. (If your car has a factory oxygen sensor, the LPG kit will be priced at P24K).

This closed loop LPG kit offers the user with a more balanced air/fuel system (as compared against "traditional" open loop systems) with the low and more affordable installation price. The only other type available to offer balanced air/fuel systems is the SGI kits which are (obviously) more expensive.

So for those who are disheartened about buying a SGI-LPG kit for their car, I strongly suggest to look up the closed loops system being sold by DENSO.

true, we can add that to the computation but I still prefer keeping my regular oil change/tune up schedules as a preventive measure.

If you are aiming for a SGI kit, true it will take a very long time. But if you get a cheaper closed loop kit, it would just take half the time to reach ROI.

For now, di pa viable na mag LPG ako sa Avanza. Ma void ang warranty ng engine pag pinagawa ko ang upgrade to LPG sa labas ng casa. I do not have the exact details, pero I am assuming na puwede sa casa kaso napakamahal naman.

Mayroon akong gasoline allowance sa caltex. ewan kung puwede sa autoLPG.

sir GH, anyone,
i've gone through the whole thread kaya lang di ko na ulit makita yung tungkol sa closed loop. may i ask if:
1. closed loop kit won't need adjustment on the 'degrees' of timing, calculated na yung lpg/air mixture?
2. pag umakyat ng baguio o tagaytay kahit all the way LPG ok lang?

Mike of Denso.

The auto-LPG Mikes:
Denso = Mike Tagle
Greengas = Mike Lim

Well, actually depends. Generally you don't need to adjust the ignition timing but to get better performance under LPG, you would still need to adjust the ignition timing. You engine will run fine with gasoline and LPG with factory stock timing.

I have driven my LPG fueled corolla a/t all the way to baguio. My only problem was when I got to Baguio, the engine was running a bit rough since I needed to re-adjust my fuel flow to compensate for the thinner air in Baguio (it was running a rich mixture). Since I was only staying in Baguio overnight, I decided just to switch over to gasoline while in Baguio City.

another Q sir GH,
while in baguio (and the air is thinner), ok lang gamitin ang LPG kung naka closed loop system na? meaning hindi na magiging rough ang takbo ng engine dahil sa closed loop?

The closed loop LPG kit will adjust the flow of LPG to balance the a/f ratio if you drive to Baguio. So the result will be a smooth running engine without manually adjusting it.

I just had a chat with Mike (Greenfuel) & his partner Warren.

They are offering open loop & SGI LPG kits for a rather good price.

Standard SGI kits would start at P39,000.
Open loop LPG kits at P18,000.
Open loop w/ EFI emulator LPG kits at P20,000

Note: cars with plastic engine intake manifolds must use the SGI kit

The standard kits come with a 40L tank. Bigger and donut tanks are available as options for a relatively small additional charge.

Their kits are based around Italian & Turkish LPG parts.

The SGI kits are fully automatic. It would start in gasoline then shift to LPG after a few seconds. If you run out of LPG, the vehicle with automatically shift back to gasoline. This kit from Greenfuel supposed to have a "lubrication" cycle where every 15 minutes of operation, the system will inject gasoline for a few seconds. This would help keep the gasoline fuel system in working order.

They showed me their Nissan X-Trail fitted with the auto-LPG SGI kit. The donut tank is where the spare tire used to be, so you will still have the same storage space are the rear. The engine-bay side conversion looks clean except the wiring might need something better than electrical tape, maybe some proper wiring wrap but otherwise it looks well done. The electronic control box is located under the dash so it won't be exposed to the heat in the engine bay. Starting the engine, the LED based indicator said the system was running on gasoline, after a short while, the four GREEN LEDs lit up indicating LPG operation and the relative content of the LPG tank as well.

Overall, the Greenfuel LPG kit seems to be a good deal in terms of affordability and quality of installation.

Hi Guys
In case you haven't heard. Price of gasoline went up Php0.50/liter today and price of auto-lpg will be rolled back Php0.50/liter.
There is no better time to install an auto lpg system than now. With the pending series of increases in gasoline prices towards the US summer driving season your savings on running your engine on auto-lpg will be bigger and your recovery period for your auto-lpg kits faster. This kit actually pays for itself over time. The sooner you convert the sooner your savings start
Have a good day
