balik lang ako sa topic, my mom bought the escape 03 in 2007 (2nd hand)for the main purpose of surviving really high and violent floods here in malabon. about knee deep and rushing against your vehicle. and i use the word "violent" because after all that flood you gone through, you can smell the awfulness of somebody's bottom inside the car. hehehe nashare ko lang. anyways, payo lang, hagga't maari, wag ilulusong sa baha ang auto, kahit diesel pa yan! mayayari ka talaga! and i will not recommend Ford Escape for flood swimming purposes although it can survive atleast.

Kung laging mataas yung tubig, tingnan niyo rin kung gaano kataas yung breather ng differential and transmission. Bawal din mapasukan ng tubig ang mga ito.

di ko naman sya ipang offroad talaga. but I live in Mandaluyong sa may Boni circle and yng area around is terrible. konting buhos di ka na makauwi.
I don't think it's as bad as Malabon though. And kinakaya naman sya usually ng matatapang na jeepney drivers.
    slight OT:
sometimes I call that area "disappearing lagoon". The sidewalk around the cityhall has a nice paver, S/S signs and steelwork fence. But the DRAINAGE system $uck$. Magaling lang sila maglagay ng dambuhalang tarpaulin signs ng mga projects with recycled picture of the good city mayor (the same shirt/pants/eyeglasses and pose).

diesel engine with a snorkel and no computer box whatsoever. so just in case water gets in no electronics to worry about. But with the flood that just happened nothing can withstand that kind of flash flood.

pajero of any generations with the diesel engine. crossed above knee deep floods last saturday, no sweat... mas takot pa sa akin yun truck na nasa unahan ko eh.

mga kasabayan ko nun sa baha, 1 isuzu d-max and a lifted fj40 land cruiser. when i saw the fj40, naalala ko ang fj40 namin na walang katakot-takot sa baha. it is certainly a legend...

Parang may strada din na nakatawid, pero naka hinto after the flooded street.

Baka chinecheck lang kung may nakasabit na plastic sa ilalim after fording the floods, hehehe.

That usually happens to me, i.e., plastics caught in my under chassis, whenever I brave through knee-deep flooded streets in Metro Manila.

    *projector.

    +1

nothing really works in the case of Ondoy. And the frightening thing is, many predict similar instances to repeat.

at over 5 feet deep in many areas, an amphibian would be the only choice.
