im guessing u have the 1.6L model, i test drove the 2.0L and found it to be as good as the 2.0 Civic. the 1.6L model is really feels underpowered because of the heavy chassis of the mazda. but handling wise mazda pa rin!

The one that I have is 2.0R. Before I bought the car, I test drive both model and find the 2.0 slightly better than the 1.6...anyways, I've finally made up my mind, I want a manual tranny and a car that can smoke almost any cars on the street...I'll get a civic next year

Mas ok pa rin sa kin ang CIVIC, hindi ka talo pagdating sa savage value... Unlike MZ3, dahil sa panget nga yung performance and cheap materials, malamang bumaba agad yung savage value below half... If your are in focus on fuel consumption, mas matipid pa rin kung M/T. Since nasabi mo na trip mo yung A/T, expect a little bit gastos sa fuel. For the looks, mas ok dress-an yung CIVIC especially with accessories, pag sumawa ka sa stock version ng CIVIC car mo, dami shops dyan na pwedeng mag set up the way na trip mo talaga. Wala pa ko nakikita na MZ3 na naka dress... kung meron man, sigurado panget yun!hehehe

savage value? Maybe you mean salvage value? Chop-chop na ba yun?

The resale value of the Mazda3 2.0R is about the same as the Civic 2.0. The Mazda3 1.6, I'm not sure, but it's better than Nissan's or Mitsubishi's at the moment, if not quite Honda-level.

And, if you will check over at Protegetech or TeamRage, there are lots of dressed-up Mazda3s out there, right now. Very good looking ones, too.

Let's be realistic here... the Civic has many advantages over the Mazda3, but in a beauty pageant, it's still a draw.

RE: seats: Civic's rear seats are roomier, but I still find the front seats of the Civic very painful on long trips. This was also the observation of my cousin who drives both his Mazda3 and his girlfriend's Civic.

:ot: sir niky, when are you going to check out the new focus TDCi? I sms-ed my agent at Ford Alabang, they told me it's gonna be out come 2nd week of August, I'm interested for a 2nd car (my fd is a daily beater), true there are only two colors for the TDCi?

A new and limited edition for the 2.0S m/t that comes in the limited color carbon bronze metallic (sort of), with the EP3 (yes, the previous Type-R) mags in 17s plus the accessories that came before on the 2.0 m/t. The thermostat control also comes with digital controls. Also, The Peal White Mica color that was only offered for the 2.0S-L will be now available for the 1.8S variant (grr, I wish I waited). An optional (on order) Mugen Body Kit now is also available for those who crave for more.

Well, Civic still is.

Planning to buy a car this late quarter 2007 or 1st quarter 2008.

I too, have a difficulty which car I would buy.
Mazda 3 is my first choice because of Comfort and Looks. It also has a semi-automatic mode. It really consumes more fuel because it is automatic.

Before, I was impressed by the Civic's 1.8 engine performance then suddenly I saw a Mazda 3 on the street.. Damn! My admiration for the Civic burst like a bubble. The look is way many generations better than the Civic.
Getting a Mazda 2.0 is even better.. Power, Handling, Looks and Compactness. Even better than its peers. If you would look at the Civic's front view, it looks like a skull with a tin jaw. I just don't get the design.. it's ugly. Don't get me wrong. I also like the Civic that's why it's my second choice. But in terms of the design and in the handling division, it's simply way inferior.
