Your boss has a tough decision to make. Both trucks have nearly equal strengths and weaknesses. Both will definitely serve your boss' purpose for farm or hi-way use and i think the fuel consumption is not an issue for him since he dosent even care about warranties.
I guess if he needs more space then get the hi-lux, inside out talagang mas malaki than the Dmax. Mas maganda ang form nito and neat ergos. For me ( and its not because I have a Dmax) I'd go for the soul of the truck; the engine. Isuzu starts up everytime, anytime. One touch 4x4 transition and definitely better power to weight ratio.
my 2 cents...![]()
Dlim,
Not sure kung saan ang pinagtanungan ng boss ko but I think Autoxer of Tsikot and Kotse.com installs one. Try to PM him in case.
Memphis,
Thanks for the input. Bias din ako sa Dmax syempre pero you just cant stop loving the Hilux. hehe. Pero mas gusto ko talaga yung last batch ng Hiluxes na solid front axles.
HILUX - porma looks only
DMAX - rugged look, pang-farm talaga
RE: Consumption...
My consumption on the 4x4 Fortuner was as follows:
Highway: 10-12 km/l (12 only if you're mabait... high speed runs takes you down to 8's)
Light Traffic (city/highway): 7 km/l
Heavy Traffic (Espana-level traffic): 5 km/l
Harabas (highway/twisties): 5 km/l
This was with the 4x4 3.0 AT, with the transfer case in 2h. The 4x4 3.0 MT Hilux may be a little better, as a lot of that consumption is from the weight of the tranny in idling.
Ang pagbalik ng comeback...
But towing requires a different license restriction as well as a trailer with papers ($$$).
I'm fixing my license to be able to tow.
Most pick ups also don't offer any towing facility. No coupling, no wiring, no nothing. Have to spend $$$ again.

Not sure with the Hilux but the Dmax only has a front tow hook. Wala sa rears.
Otep,
Around how much is the fee for towing?
what do you guys recommend na magandang brand na TOW HOOK? huwag lang ARB sobrang mahal kasi nun. may nakiita ko kadalasan sa mga Ford Expedition, shape nya is square..
diba the fortuner 3.0 4wd has no 2H option? it has a full time 4wd set-up? 4H-4HL-4LL. the new hi-lux and fortuner share the same suspension design sa 120 prado/4runner/gx470.
D-max naman share it with the chevy colorado and the upcoming H3.
D-max vs Hi-lux acceleration sa traffic overtaking the smae lang lamang lang lux sa open roads, this is the account ng kilala kong magkapatid with both vehicles M/T.
Correct. Full time 4WD.
I think they already share components now. The Chevy Colorado looks like a rebadged D-max with unique body clips to differentiate it. Even the interior looks so Isuzu. The H3 is totally different but if you look at its dash and steering wheel, it would remind you of the D-Max.
The H3 is based off the Colorado and Dmax. I forgot the platform code but it's the same as the Colorado (which is the same as the Dmax). Some of the manufacturing 'hard points' weren't changed (engine mounting location, dash location, etc.).
AFAIK, only the dash skin is different, the components underneath the dash are identical with the pick ups (hence the use of the pushbutton 4wd system).

WOW!
parang H3 na rin pala Dmax ko.. hehe. Hindi ko na pala kelangan ma-obsess sa HUMMER. hikhik![]()
Even the instrument cluster is only cosmetically different. They used the same panel and just put different trimmings on it.

djerms, my vote goes to the dmax.. not because i hav one.. but tested na kc yun dmax ng uncle ko na gingaamit nya sa farm, and get this, 4x2 lang dmax nya and kulang pa sa maintenance ang dmax niya... as in talagang rough ang gamit niya sa dmax... minsan nga nakataas na yun front dahil sa sobrang load sa likod but hindi naman bumigay ang suspension... and stilll kaya raw patakbohin ng malakas ang dmax.... and yun farm niya is about kilometers away from the barangay road... as in,nasa sulok tlaga ang farm niya... it really is a battered car....
*ARB: Sorry! Medyo nakakalito yung lever ng Fortuner, walang written instructions.
My mistake, it was in 4H, unlocked differential.
Ang pagbalik ng comeback...
Kung pag piliin ako sa dalawa. Sa Hilux ako, lakas talaga, my bed din naman ang pick up na pwede lagyan nang gamit, mataas pa ang HiLux.
LLer,
Boss, please refer to subject title. HP rating is now equal at 160hp. Pero I must agree, parang mababa nga ang stance ng Dmax compared to the Hi-lux. Pero ever since naman maganda ang stance ng 4x4 pickups ng toyota at Strada compared to the rest. I like the ride of the Dmax compared to the Hi-lux tho.
Hehe I think kanya kanyang bias lang din yan. Of course love your own.
We also have a Hilux and comparing it with the Dmax's ride, mas matagtag ang Hi-lux. Pero hindi naman nagkakalayo...hey both are pick-ups btw.
