BTW, never combine in the same sentence (or even paragraph) the words "performance" and "practical" because when you talk about cars being practical and performance oriented, these tend to be on the opposite ends of the discussion.

There are practical rides with some performance built on them. I do drive one. It can seat 5 comfortably, has enough room for our luggage on the back, and still blast 0-100kmh faster than most compacts or midsize cars. My other drive may not be as quick or fast as the other one but it's fun to drive daily and can outsprint most cars on its price range.

i am the one getting scared when i drive my wigo at the slex approaching 100 kph. the engine is screaming, the suspension allows me to feel all the road imperfections, and the manibela is very very soft and sensitive.
the altis AT naman, it's already 120 and i still feel very comfortable inside.

Tell you a (not so) secret. A Wigo is really a bad car to drive fast. A Mirage handles well at high speeds or when pushed around corners. This car is good at communicating with the driver, even when bone stock. The limited grip of the stock tires isn't so bad since you can feel the (stock) tires starting to slide, giving you ample time to react to it. A Wigo is a nice value-for-money car especially with the Toyota badge attached, period.

This car is good at communicating with the driver, even when bone stock. i assure you. it's common knowledge among wigo-ers... we are but humble toyota subjects...
i also get bullied a lot by other motorists, driving the minicar.
wigo is good for city-type driving. but for expressway, i use the bigger cars.

How much additional power and torque would that be producing for a Mirage or Wigo? Have you tried one already? How quick can it sprint from 0-100kmh?

I haven't driven a supercharged Mirage or Wigo. I just have driven them in stock form. I say these two cars can be fun if they had an extra 25 to 30 hp under the hood. Example, the mirage stock has 78hp. Give it another 30hp and it would have 108hp. This is exactly why the Ford Fiesta 1.0 Turbo is so fun to drive, it has as much power as a 1.6 engine with so little weight with the 1.0L turbo engine.

What high speed are we talking here? The first batches of the Mirage HB did come with Potenza tires and we all know they are good tires. However, there's a limit as to how much we can push such small cars to high speeds. There might be some fun spending such a big amount for a supercharger to a Mirage or Wigo but I doubt you can get something past 100hp gross output. I'd rather use the amount (price of Mirage plus a supercharger) for a good all-arounder like the Jazz or get the much quicker/faster Fiesta Ecoboost.

I just searched the Speedlab supercharger kits for the Wigo and Mirage. Apparently the Wigo application makes around 80whp, and the Mirage, around 90whp. That would be similar to the stock output of a typical normally aspirated 1.5-1.6L engine. But those figures are apparently also the highest they can go with stock internals.

For a mere 30+whp boost you have to cough up 200+k... With a CRDi turbodiesel, the chip alone can already achieve this level of power increase. Damage of only 30k.

I empathize with the guys here who put up with their "screaming" Wigo's. Our Revo diesel is just the same. 60km/h feels fast already. 100km/h feels like you're flying and the engine sounds like it's about to explode. Engine tops out at a pretty decent 145km/h but at that point, prolonged exposure to that level of engine noise would've permanently damaged my hearing. 😂

The Fiesta has a heavy chassis, around 1100+ kg. It weighs as much as older compacts. The Jazz is a few kilograms lighter, around 1090kg. Whatever disadvantage the Fiesta's weight has against other subcompacts, it easily offsets with the amount of torque its 1.0L turbo engine produces. The heavier chassis does offer some advantages as the car feels stable at high speeds (160-180 kmh).

Given the Mirage 1.2 started with 78hp. A gain of 30 hp is almost 50% over stock HP. And when I say performance, I am not talking just straight line speeds. I am also including how fast the vehicle can corner. And I am not talking about cars with coffee can mufflers so your hearing will not be in any danger.

And like I said, I am just suggesting it based on the requirements of the original thread starter.

The Ford Fiesta is a chunky little car for it's class but the 1.0 ecoboost engine produces 125hp and a lot of torque as well, enough to more than offset the few kiliograms penalty. It was a fun little car when I was test driving it on the roads of Thailand some years back.

What mirage are we talking about here? G4 or hatch? Pushed around corners, and you are asking for body roll galore on this puny car.
By handling at high speed, do you mean you dont correct the steering wheel everytime for minute changes or sudden wind gust?
