    I'm looking for a fun-to-drive budget vehicle:

    - Price should not go beyond 1M pesos
    - Top-speed is not really my concern, but rather how fast the car go from 0 kph to 100 kph
    - I prefer brandnew to avoid potential problems
    - Preferably with automatic transmission (so that the wife can also drive it...during an emergency only, hehe)

Thanks in advance for your comments & suggestions!

    Ford Focus 1.5 Ecoboost 6AT is 1.088m

I think there are some discounts for this model.

What is your car at the moment?

Thanks for the quick reply sir. The Focus is very tempting, but I was hoping to get more options under the 1M price point.

I'm currently driving a 2016 Montero and a 2014 Mirage HB. Planning to let go of the Mirage this year, then replace it with a faster/quicker vehicle.

Nasolve naba nila bro ang issue sa DCT on this model?

Though, if the OP will use this car outside manila or places na wala masydo stop and go traffic, Ill vote for this too given the concern sa tranny.

Thanks for the suggestions. The diesel Accent looks promising. How's the maintenance? Is it every 5km or 10km? Im assuming roughly 5k every scheduled maintenance?

By the way, Im also considering Honda Jazz (also below 1M). How does it stack up against the diesel Accent? Can anyone who's driven both cars share their experience? Thanks!

Not willing to consider 2nd hand? At 800+k you can get the diesel Accent. Here's a 0-200 acceleration vid Accent BLUE 2015 0-198 - YouTube

Fast and thrifty. Can't get any better than that. Being turbocharged means chiptuning alone adds loads more power too.

Agree with most of the replies above. Being quick with a powerful engine does not necessarily mean its fun to drive. But being fun to drive is subjective to the driver/TS.

I suggest give those suggested cars a test drive. Don't be afraid to Rev hard the test cars since it will be one of the basis of your purchase choice.

Test drive the Fiesta , Jazz , Mazda 2 and Accent.

But if you don't mind a second hand car. There are a lot more options with more power and better fun to drive factors.

Would you look at that, 185km/h * 3500rpm... Exactly the same as my uncle's Strada GLS Sport V. At that point the Strada was barely getting any faster, but this one just keeps on going and going and going... According to that vid, 200 comes at around 3750rpm, 4500rpm pa ata ang redline. 220km/h speedo definitely ain't just for show!

Kung takot sa 7DCT, there is the Kia Soul at 1.02M. Same engine as the Accent but with 6 speed traditional slushbox. Lots more cargo space and higher ground clearance than the sedans you are currently considering.

Fiesta Ecoboost if you want the quickest car under 1M. It does 0-100 in 9 seconds, which is 2.0-category. It's faster than the Accent which only feels quick because it's a diesel, but under flat out acceleration, the Fiesta edges it out. The Fiesta also has much better suspension than the Accent.

I was thinking of getting an Ecoboost last year, but I realized that I needed a better all-rounder rather than just an outright speedy car.

The Ecoboost is very quick and torquey, has great handling, and is pretty loaded with features for its price. However, what turned me off is that it's very cramped, it doesn't have the same gravitas as a compact car, it has poor resale value, and its transmission has potential reliability issues in the long run.

That said, we have different needs though. Your Montero can serve as your all-rounder, while the Fiesta complements it very well as a fun backup car.

Add the Jetta to the options. 0 to 100 kph in 8+secs with their twin turbo. I think their promo is still ongoing, if it is, makes it sub-P1M car.

Not sure about stock availability though.

    Good luck!
