Agree with most of the replies above. Being quick with a powerful engine does not necessarily mean its fun to drive. But being fun to drive is subjective to the driver/TS.

I suggest give those suggested cars a test drive. Don't be afraid to Rev hard the test cars since it will be one of the basis of your purchase choice.

Test drive the Fiesta , Jazz , Mazda 2 and Accent.

But if you don't mind a second hand car. There are a lot more options with more power and better fun to drive factors.

Just want to correct a notion. Numbers between diesels, NA gas engines and turbo gas engines are deceptive.

Diesels dont have a flat torque curve. They dump all their torque at 2-3k rpm then it rapidly goes down from there. Same for their hp. Thats why diesels rapidly lose steam at 3.5k and above rpm and their red line doesnt even hit 5k rpm. No fun at higher rpms.

The power and torque curve for a NA(naturally aspirated) gas engine is different. The torque rises from idle to about 4.5k-5k peak torque. Hp rises from idle as well and matches the torque peak. Hence you feel (and actually do) get more power at higher rpms where the "fun" is. Most fun at high rpms but you have to find a way to keep the engine in that rpm range or powerband. Loved by purists.

A turbo gas engine is even better if you like the feel of "torque shoving you into your seat." Good turbo gas engines have a FLAT torque curve that hit their peak below 2k rpm and stay flat till about 5k rpm. Hp will rise from idle all the way to right before red line. These engines give the best "shove" but they have lower redlines that NA gas engines and dont sound as good though. But they easily make the most HP per liter of displacement and are easier to tune.

Fastest would probably be the Mirage or Wigo with SPEEDLAB supercharger kit (Php240K I think). So 600k + 240k = P840k ;)

as an auto expert said, at that combined cost, would it not be more practical to get a more capable (bigger) car that, even in stock form, will probably be still faster than the souped-up mini cars, at similar cost?

A bigger car would weigh more. And the thread starter was asking only for 0-100kph performance. Even a Mirage is a decent car if you fit it with better tires. Even in stock form, its a scream to drive it on the downhill sections of Tanay's mountain roads which keeping in pace with so-called better cars.

BTW, never combine in the same sentence (or even paragraph) the words "performance" and "practical" because when you talk about cars being practical and performance oriented, these tend to be on the opposite ends of the discussion.

How much additional power and torque would that be producing for a Mirage or Wigo? Have you tried one already? How quick can it sprint from 0-100kmh?

i am the one getting scared when i drive my wigo at the slex approaching 100 kph. the engine is screaming, the suspension allows me to feel all the road imperfections, and the manibela is very very soft and sensitive.
the altis AT naman, it's already 120 and i still feel very comfortable inside.
