For me, paddle shift manual mode on AT transmission is a good enough compromise. Better yet, an electronically actuated manual like the one Ferrari uses, which are apparently still too expensive to trickle down into mainstream cars.

For me, A/T is recommended for city driving at sa mga lady drivers. nakakapagod ang pag-apak ng clutch at pagkambyo due to city traffic. Provincial drive, ok naman ang A/T but then kung may akyatin or sa mga driving enthusiasts na tulad ko, mas prefered and M/T. You can shift gear earlier kung nagtitipid ka sa fuel, or you can shift gear later kung nakikipaghatawan ka, (pwede mong ibabad in every gear especially sa 4th), yung parang nakikipagkarera. Mas exciting ang M/T for me.

AT- city driving. Edsa. Traffic. Hatid sundo sa GF hehe
MT - long drive, roads with uphill. Mafeel mo talaga nagdrive ka.

At the end of the day, nakay driver padin ang decision.

We have Fort (AT) and Accent Hatch (MT), since province lang driving route ko na wala masyadong trapik tulad sa Metro Manila, I prefer driving MT. Feel ko kasi dito na talagang driver ako, gusto ko kasi talaga maFeel yung power ng car at para sakin mas exciting yung MT. Pero yung father ko, mas gusto ang AT. Mas madali na daw kasi idrive yung AT compared sa MT.

    talk about automatic.. I have a shiftronic6

When I go thru a 15km stretch of a steep mountain(2000m above sea level) climb. I prefer the shiftronic. I usually cruise at 4th gear * 60-70kph but when I need to overtake a slow moving corolla, downshift 3rd and bam 80kph no clutch no drama... then ease again to 4th or 5th or 6th(minimum 70kph)

Find what suits you best. And depende din yan sa driving route mo. Like what other tsikoteers said, go for AT pag mostly city driving, and MT for mostly highway driving.

If your car is 1.3L Engine, would you go for MT or AT?

Depends on the car. Generally though I'd go for MT since the power and efficiency difference can really be felt for cars with such little engines. But if you don't mind slower performance and slightly higher consumption in exchange for a more comfortable drive in city traffic, then go for AT.

CVTs are great though since they don't have the consumption penalty of traditional ATs, sometimes even being more efficient than their MT counterpart. Thing is, the Mirage is the only sub-1.3L car with CVT, the rest still have old-school torque-converter ATs.

A/T costs more than M/T. They may be slightly less fuel efficient than an M/T but the price difference can be used for other matters.

it's the nature of the beast, po.
ATs have a liquid coupling that has an initial slippage... we can only minimize it by clever engineering, but can not entirely get rid of it.
and, i believe, it gets less noticeable with smaller (lower momentum) vehicles..

ayaw mo may delay? press the brake with your left foot, accelerator with your right. or heel-toe mo. then release the brakes. magastos lang sa goma. takaw sunog atf din pag lagi mo ginagawa.
