Kaya dapat matuto muna sa M/T then A/T. Para kahit ano sa 2, kaya i-drive.

    1. Used to own an A/T Civic vti (2000 model) and the shift shock is really intense on that car. From 2nd to 3rd tatango2x talaga ang ulo mo kasi bigla na lang syang magki-'click'.

But now with my MZ3, the shifting is so smooth, diko talaga mapansin ung pag-shift nya. And Ive been trying to feel it for sometime now. Nagawa ko sya mashift shock one time. Using activematic, I shifted down just when the computer was shifting it down too. Tsamba, pero me slight 'ting'.. hehe.. tuwang, tuwa ako.. Ewan ko kung bakit.. Pero diko na nagawa ulit. Mahirap talagang mapalabas ung shift shock na un sa MZ3.

    2. Using activematic, I realize just how much I miss driving in M/T. Its been almost 9 years now since I last drove an M/T car with regularity. Pero now, I want to drive M/T so much.. my next car will be an M/T I think.. mag-aral na lang ulit si misis..

I AGREE... specially if you're gonna drive most of your life in the Phils.

Owning a car must include the pleasure of it regardless of the compromises made. Driving shouldn't seem like a chore.

i agree with this one. in fact, learning how to drive includes determination at like you said, pleasure. dapat pag nagdridrive ka, enjoy at hindi yun sapilitan...

Yes...and if it eventually feels like a chore, it must be the time to quit driving. Hay, I can only wish Manila doesn't make driving feel like it.

FWIW, NOBODY in this thread mentioned that DRIVING seemed like a chore. What prompted you to state that here, bro?

I'm with tool_46n2, ever since I started regularly driving an A/T, I felt less and less fond of the M/T. But if someone "gifts" me with a sports car that has M/T, I'll gladly accept it and grow fond of its M/T.

Allow me... Nobody did say it is, but it is somewhat implied since there's a bit more human involvement driving an M/T, all else being equal.

I NEVER mentioned ANYONE who did. "Just my two cents", ika nga. I'm just pointing out that every car owner should enjoy whatever he/she is driving. If not, he/she doesn't get the point of buying a car.

Not really implied, it really boils down to preference (which anyone's is different but respected). Ceteris paribus, M/T really needs more human involvement. In A/T, it's more of intervention. Really, I can't drive with my hand off the shifter even with A/T.

Wala lang, I just thought that tool's post was misread.

No harm done, just wanted to clarify.

Bro, you just affirmed what I meant.

You affirmed that driving an M/T is a chore, but bro robert said DRIVING (per se) is a chore. That was my contention.

Still, no harm done. Di naman mainitin ulo ni bro robert, alam ko.

For me, AT because my left knee is quite weak due to arthritis.

I would prefer an MT though over the old type of auto tranny.

Yep, driving itself shouldn't be a chore. Cars are bought with big money, right? So we should enjoy using it as much as we can. And it all starts with choosing the right options when buying so as to prevent future inconvenience and stress that comes with it.

    I believe it's situational naman.

If you want to take a nap, but your wife asks you to drive to the supermarket to buy something, then driving becomes a chore! Regardless whether you are driving an M/T or an A/T.

But if you are driving in the tracks, even going 10 or 12 laps in an M/T, with the aircon shut off, and wearing a stiffling helmet, driving is still a pleasure!

    Well said, sir!!!

Yung mga pabor sa M/T, have you tried driving ~500kms in 9 hours or more (with only 1 to 2 hours total rest in between)?

I tried it before (Baguio - Batac Ilocos Norte nd vice versa) for more than 12 hours (rest time included). Sumakit likod ko but I never felt sleepy during the entire trip. I drove a MT vehicle at that time.

Ako naman, from Pampanga to Laoag (one way, almost 500 kms yata). Nangawit yung kanang hita at binti ko, I let my left leg drive for a few minutes while my right leg was stretched out, right foot on dashboard, wife's hands massaging the leg.

No back aches, though. Never felt any tiredness and sleepiness, except I felt a little sleepy when driving home on the SCTEx after a full meal at Isdaan. I blame that on the full meal.

I wouldn't dream doing that using an M/T, though.

Now that's pleasure. Hehe...I've always considered driving a pleasure ever since I was tall enough to ride bump cars and when I learned how to use the clutch (I grew up on M/T). I see driving (regardless of transmission) as a great convenience and even pleasure maybe because I use public transport 80% of the time I travel. And if anyone isn't aware of it, that's no pleasure of any sort.
