That's because the US doesn't really get "Euro-style" cars. Ford's Mondeo was also like this, a great European Ford product that didn't get a lot of sales in the US.

But then again; The Focus has sold over 140,000 units this year, just behind the Chevy Cobalt (but stronger for the month of August) and bounds ahead of the Dodge Neon... only the Civic and the Corolla (when you count combined Corolla and Matrix sales) sell better in the compact class.

It's not exactly selling like hotcakes, but it's not like "nobody's buying it".

Kids like it. And there's an active aftermarket for the Focus, thankfully.

Sucks that the US isn't getting the European version, though.

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

Surprisingly, despite the all-out marketing that Ford has been blitzing in the past months, there is still very little interest in the new Focus (my fallacious? or not? assertion is based on the obvious lack of new units traversing the steets of Manila since its launching three weeks ago). I have been called on by two sales agents already to remind me of the availability of the car. Today I received a call from Ford's contact center for a survey.

Some of the questions they asked:
    1. What are your impression(s) of the car?
    2. Do you plan to buy a Focus? Why not?
    3. What does the advertising impart on you?
    4. What do you think is missing from the advertising?

Btw, C ! Magazine rated the Focus 3 of 5.

for me it still depends sa price ng two, medyo hindi "click" ang focus ngayon sa atin because of high entry price (900k+php) which is comparable na sa high-end na mazda3(2.0) and civic(i-vtec lineup). siyempre, di rin natin alam pa ang entry level price ng dadating na 2006 civic. pero kung papalo din ng 750k+php just like the current civic ang entry price then many people would prefer the civic over the focus! price mostly ang nagdi-dictate ng market! insights ko lang po.

the new civic will probably have lowest price of 800k+, the city and jazz will probably replace the low end 700k+ civics before.

and yes nilalangaw ang black focus sa ford showroom dto

It lacks a manual tranny IMO, and people think Toyota's overrated (1.8li) VVTi engine is more powerful. (USDM COrolla 1.8 is now rated 124HP if i'm not mistaken, based on new measurement method mandated by SAExxxxx which started fm. Aug. 2005). So because of Toyota's untruthfulness, they think less of the FOcus.
