I'm not really an expert when it comes to cars, but I have test driven three of them (Ford Focus 2.0L & Honda Civic 2.0 AT & Honda Civic 1.8 S). I was a bit confused as to what to get as I was very impressed with all cars. When I tried the Honda 2.0L and 1.8 S, the paddle shifts are good when you want to get get the feel of a manual tranny without the clutch (sport mode), but it's a little bit awkward when you have to turn the wheel and you're on sport mode. I think a nice solution would be if it had a stick shift component, aside from the paddle shift. The feel of the 1.8 S is about the same as the 2.0 L, but I have to admit, I test drove it while on moderate to heavy traffic. In terms of amenities, the difference between the 1.8S and the 2.0 L is that the latter has VSA, leather upholstery and seats, HID, paddleshift (5 speed MT sports mode), fog lamps, variable intermitent wiper, 6 speaker audio, electronic power steering and the bigger engine. Safety features, ABS and passenger airbags are the same, except that the 2.0 has side airbags. The ABS and passenger air bags, however, are not present in the 1.8 V.

You can check the specs here. http://www.ilovemycivic.com/specifications.php

The Ford Focus 2.0L is an impressive car. Very nice interior, which looks like the dash of an Audi. Good amenities such as the moonroof, antijam power windows. Stalk steering controls for the audio, and it has the a 4 speed Sequential Sports Shift. Space is about the same for me (I'm 5'8"). When I drove it, I know it has a better pull than a Mazda 3 which I also test drove. It is also E20 compliant. I was offered a 50% 2 years to pay without interest option by the dealer, together with the free 10K worth of fuel, 5 years warranty. Nearly got it, but the one of the things that made me decide otherwise, was that Honda already has an excellent reputation with the the Civic, while the Focus, even though it's impressive, still has to prove itself in the Philippine road setting. Maybe when we get to get more reviews from end users, then I will not hesitate to get a Ford Focus next time.

    Check out Ford Philippines http://www.ford.com.ph/servlet/Conte...Page&c=DFYPage`

PS. I already bought a 1.8 S Honda Civic. very nice ride. Value for money, I think the Honda 1.8 S is the best, compared to other cars in it's class.a

Yup, the Focus 2.0 is a very nice car on the inside... even better than the new Civic. The only problem with it is the cheap plastic on the doors... (whereas Honda has it everywhere)... but of all current cars, the 1.8 Civic seems to be the wisest choice.

C'mon, Ford and Mazda... give us better transmissions!!!

Me and my dad just test drive the Ford Focus Ghia it is really a very nice car, u get ur moneys worth even though the price is little bit high. For me i thought the Focus has bad transmission like wat they're saying, but yesterday it prove me wrong. The Focus has advance features and the ride is really comfortable. Take it from me the transmission is very good. If u want a manual feel, if ur in Drive just push the gear to the right. The the car automatically adjust on how fast ur speed is. So even though ur running fast or slow if u shift to manual, there is no problem. U can even use the sport shift like other manual cars if u want to engine break. Just push (-) or up and if u want to go fast again just pull (+) down. And if u press the brake the car automatically calculates what gear u r so u don't have to go (-) up. And then if u got into traffic and u don't want sport shift just push it to the left and ur in automatic again. Focus has advance features, just go to a Ford and see it for urself. And request for a test drive if u want.

The Ford Focus Ghia 1.8 has more features than the 1.8s Honda Civic. Even though u take the 2.0S A/T. For me Focus still is very comfortable ride and fuel efficient than the Civic. They're saying honda is more faster than the Ford Focus, anyway who need a fast car here in phil. Anyway b4 u say Honda is a better car go see it for urself, compare Focus "interior n exterior" and Honda "interior n exterior".

The Focus is really really very nice car.... For me test drive the car b4 u decide which to buy.

The Focus is a good car, no doubt about it. Esp. if you're not too concerned about resale value, build quality and reliability issues.

There's the odd squeaking issue with the Focus's rear hatch, and some complain about squeaking brakes (could be dirty), but not many have major issues, and most are covered by warranty.
