Jan na papasok emergency fund ni madam. But dont let the costs turn you off.

The seller is based in Las Pinas and the katiwala is the one who deals with the potential buyers. Seems kinda shady, diba?

From the get-go, medyo na-turn off na ako sa seller ng pangalawang unit. Katext ko lang kasi nung friday at kagabi to tell him na darating kami this morning at kung anong oras.

At yun nga, may pagkashady.

During the test drive naman, I was at the front seat.

About driving a manual, I really prefer sticking to AT nalang.

Thanks for reminding me to keep in mind that we need to set aside a certain budget for future repairs. Mukha ngang stretching the budget to P248K might be risking it.

We may still go back tomorrow with the driver just to hear his assessment/evaluation of the car. Haha. Just to validate our decision to get the first unit instead. Well at least that's what we're leaning towards getting.

Actually you don't need the extra power of the vti for your daily duties. Which car did you feel more comfortable to drive and more at ease? Observe how the engine purrs in idling and on the road when you give it a kick. Any noises in the engine/suspension or in the cabin could help you decide. Your Gut feel comes into play. Good luck![emoji106]

Thanks for all the help, guys. We finally decided to get the lxi instead of the vti. We didn't push through na with the viewing this afternoon. Mabigat na rin kasi to shell out almost 20K more than our set budget and we still have to set aside some moolah for future repairs/replacements. We also thought about what Skyflakes said and agreed that lxi would be enough for our city driving needs.

Also, I felt more comfortable dealing with the seller of the lxi unit. I don't believe in signs but I do believe in paying heed to your gut feel. And mas at ease ako with the lxi seller.

Now we'll be meeting up with the seller sa mall tomorrow then we go to their office and pay in cash. Is this usual in transactions like these? We preferred sana bank transfer and this was what we initially agreed upon but we requested to have our reservation extended until today (hanggang kahapon lang dapat) and his assistant said cash nalang daw kapag ganoon.

Thanks, guys! Btw, girl po ako as I've mentioned in my first post. Haha 😁

So it's ok to pay the seller in cold hard cash? I feel safer to do it via bank transfer. But is it ok/is it normally done to pay the seller this way?

Either way its possible. It depends on what you agreed together. Some people do not like checks or cheque bec. of the clearing days involved as well as the potential for fraud (even in manager's check).

Also as a buyer maybe you can ask the seller if you can leave out a balance in the payment which you will give to them upon receiving the duly notarized DEED OF SALE (2 copies at least). Some sellers upon getting the full payment will ignore or delay the release of this document. Without this document, the LTO title (CR) cannot be transferred to your name.

PS: So far all the three cars I sold, all involved cash transaction. No cheque.

Hi number001. When you say cash transaction, as in bundles of money upfront? I feel uneasy lang kasi to bring a significant amount of cash to pay the seller.

Would you care to share how much money/percentage to leave out until the duly notarized deed of sale is released?

    Yes bundle of cash.

Cash is the easiest but some say it does not leave paper trail.

Bec. if its bank transaction, you will need to keep on checking if the amount has entered your acct. When I was doing those transaction a few years ago, internet banking was still taking off. There is some delay or waiting involved. Now if its bundles of cash, you are sure its there.

Actually the DOS should be done and released as you pay for the vehicle.
But in the case of certain events (ie. error in the document or no notary public available nearby, etc.) , the DOS will be to follow. But you need to avoid this scenario if possible. Which is why you need to make sure the notarized DOS is correct (exact same details of the vehicle and owner as LTO registration).

Re: the percentage of balance. There is no hard fast rule. It can be around Php 40-50K depending on the amount involved. BTW, I had a transaction of 240K and the buyer withheld 40K for the DOS bec. he failed to show me his details or incorrect info on his part.

I prefer bank transfer because it leaves a paper trail for whatever purpose it may serve. Also, before payment, naka ready na dapat ang DoS and pertinent documents, for signature mo na lang and notarization, likewise the car ready to be driven off the same day. A seller in good faith should have no problem having these prepared on the date of exchange.

Make sure you validate with LTO the owner of the open DoS, that the entries match the CR and have copies of proper identification, para smooth ang transfer sa iyo.

maki_mi, that's exactly how I feel. Na kapag may bank transfer, kahit papaano may paper trail.

After we've decided to get the unit yesterday, seller wants to do the transaction/payment right away kaya we feel rushed. Gusto magmeet up na agad this afternoon. So dapat pala may initial meeting pa ulit kami to prepare the documents, etc before handing the payment. Sorry for the noob question, pero what documents need to be prepared and signed? Quite naive, naisip ko lang na we give the payment and then drive off with the car and just wait for the DoS to be released. Wala pa kasi sa aming may experience in buying second hand cars. :dunno:

It's best to notify the seller to have all the documents para kaliwaan na lang kayo. No hassle. Just make sure you did your investigation on the cars documents like inquiring sa Pnp at Lto offices kung may alarm yun plate no.nang kotse po prior to setting the date of final payment

Will update you guys once we've made the purchase.

I'm thinking that after we get the unit, I'd like to bring it to an auto shop for a check-up or tune-up to iron the kinks out (if there are any) and just to make sure it's in top running condition.

Yes, that's really what you should do once you get the car.

Inspect and/or replace all fluids and filters, check suspension bits, engine drive belts, and so on.

Alright then, will make sure to attend to it after we get the unit. 👍

One question pala, not sure if this is OT na. We only have open parking space for the car. Will a car cover suffice to protect the car o do we need to get a tent? Where can we get a heavy duty tent? I think canvas material ang matibay?

The best way to protect a car's finish for me is to keep it free from dust most of the time. I do this by washing my car with water only every week. I find soaping and waxing unnecessary, di naman ako lumalaban sa car show .

Dust + rain + sun = baked on acid dust. I only use car cover after I wash my car parked under a roof to avoid dust over the weekend, so pagka lunes sariwa pa siya.
