Ok hope you can make it get to work. Or maybe the 8850 has a different software?

I think it does because this has Android Auto and Car Play. The advise from 5 Star Car Audio in youtube also didn't work by setting the smartphone to AV rather than USB. Checked if there are new firmwares available, none.

For that budget, try Auditor RIP 165, Hertz DSK 165 and the Audio System MX 165. They all sound very different though. Depends on your preference.

Hmmm, interesting quotations you have there.

    Some observations:
    1. I see that Reo (2MC Audio) is leaning towards the DS18 amplifier. That's surprising as I was expecting him to push for a more well-reputed brand. This means that he's not brand-conscious of the amplifier and power... is power. His choice of amplifier, should it be the Excel line, should be the DS18 EXL A1K4.
    2. Staunch, with Marbel at its helm, is predominantly ESQL/LnC focused. judging from the 6" mids and tweets, those are raw drivers. That comes as no surprise thanks to Marbel's history as he used to compete in EMMA's LnC category.
    3. What interests me is Staunch's amplifier recommendation. The DS18's Candy amplifier is half the size of their Excel lineup but has more power packed in it according to its website. I feel this is impossible and DS18 has mislabeled it as a Class A/B amplifier when it's in fact a Class D amplifier.
    4. Mickey's quote is classic Mickey's. What I dislike is the JL amplifier. It's probably a JL JX360/4 retailing at Php11.9k; problem is this amplifier has already been phased out being replaced by JX400/4 that utilizes JL's full-range Class D technology (of which they're one of the best in its implementation in the industry).

    My opinion:
    1. I'm surprised they're all in on the Morel's. I guess you can't really go wrong with entry-level Morels.
    2. On the amplifier, I'm on the camp that's more power = better. I'm not a fan of DS18 -- they're no better than Chinese rebrands entering in the Philippines.
    3. Then again, Chinese rebrands aren't bad at all. They dish out what's needed for the cash you pay for it. As such, go for it.
    4. Among the subwoofer choices, I'm leaning on the Hertz. I love their subwoofers.
    5. If I were to nitpick, I feel you're paying too much on the subwoofers. Those JL, Focal, and Hertz subwoofers are quality but they're also pricey. Personally, I'd rather save the Php2,000 difference of the Hertz and get a JBL GTO 10" subwoofer instead. Not only can you not hear the difference but the JBL is also superior in its rubber surround as seen in its excursion parameters.

There's not much differentiation in the Php5,000-10,000. Reason for this is that most of them use the same cone material with a slight variation in tweeter material (which is usually a soft dome because they're cheap and even if they're budgeted still sound good). In fact, you might want to focus instead on choosing your installer.

Why? Because if the materials themselves don't really differ much. The next variable will be the installer's knowledge and experience of which will affect the sound quality by a huge margin depending on his installation. The installer should first be accustomed to his product and should know how to properly install them for it to sound the best.

Which installer do you recommend sir? I've heard about ACA, jetcar and C3, any comments on these installers? Any one of them you recommend the most/one that I should avoid? TIA!

Thanks for your reply, does the phased out JL amp has significant difference with the new one?

Another quote given by Reo of 2MC worth 50k is:
    Pioneer x2850BT
    Focal 165AS
    Focal Sub 25AF
    RF Prime AMP

I'm actually looking for a shop that provides an option to pay on credit card (GF couldn't track if you know what i mean).

Auditor and Audio System/Gladen/Mosconi are from the same distributor. So any shop that sells Focal can also source these. For Hertz, Simplesound or Mickeys.

Anyway, did some car audio shopping this xmas.

Replaced the stock HU on my Altis with a Sony XAV-650BT because it does not read Android phones or Spotify.

Got an amp(Gladen M95.4) and sub(Hertz ES250.5) for my Swift.

Now I just need to find time to visit my installer to get these babies running.

Sir freeloader, I am getting an error when replying through PM, so I will just post it here. The Sony XAV-650BT cost 12k from the Aaron Samuel store in Banawe. It needs a Sony Steering wheel control adapter that cost 1k to make it work. Then an additional 300 for the antenna cable for AM/FM listening. The rear camera costs 1.5k from the same store, and I am very happy with it's performance.

The reason why I chose this compared to the Pioneer X2850BT is to try out a different brand. I am already using an X8850BT in my CRV. Tuning wise, I think the X2850BT has more because it has time alignment. Sony is limited to a 5-band EQ, Crossover adjustments, Fader/Balance. I think that's it. The key selling point of this Sony is the rotary volume knob. I like those more than pressing butttons on the HU to quickly adjust the volume.

Ganda ng set-up! It's nice to see other brands of HU aside from Pioneer. How's the sound compared to 8850BT if EQ is flat for both HUs?

Sony prides itself as a bassy system. From headphones, up to these HUs, it's the same. Pioneer sounds thicker and has a fuller body but sounds even on the EQ spectrum, Alpine naman sounds clinical.

Mas maganda po yung setup ni ninjababez, straight reference gears. Kaya po marami siyang chicks.

Sir Mark, I'll learn this week kung may RCA out nga yung AVT HU ng Swift. I just bought the gears, di ko pa pinakakabit because of the lack of time. Sa friday ako dadaan kay SimpleSound.
