Detailing Thread [For Newbies][continued 3]

Reserving the weekend to prep the car for the rainy season. Here is the plan I've drawn out.

1. Full Wash
2. Clay
3. Wash
4. Cleaner - MOMs Step1
5. M34 Final Inspection
6. M105
7. KAIO
8. M34
9. Megs M7
10. M34
11. KSG (planning on 3 passes)
12. 915 after competing KSG
13. Sonax Brilliant Shine QD for maintenance

I hope you don't mind me commenting on your regimen - just a few things I'd change, myself:

I'd probably skip the wash after the clay - since you're using a QD for lube, and will be polishing afterwards, the wash seems like an added step to me. I'd also not bother with Mom's step 1 - M105 will remove anything that step 1 will, as part of the polishing it does. Additionally, you're going to be using KAIO, which does just as good (if not better) a job at cleaning as Mom's 1 does.

I'd move the KAIO step just before the KSG one - they're made to work together, and there really shouldn't be anything applied in between the two. You particularly don't want an oily glaze like M7 under KSG - it will drastically impact the durability of the product. If you really want to use M7, I'd do if after the KSG layer (it won't strip KSG, since M7 doesn't have any cleaners).

So, if I were amending:

1. Full Wash
2. Clay then QD wipe
3. M105
4. KAIO
5. KSG (planning on 3 passes)
6. M7
7. 915
8. Sonax Brilliant Shine QD for maintenance

Fewer steps, and likely the same result.

If you're just getting the twins, and won't be able to avail of any free shipping offers, I'd consider getting the Werkstat products instead - they're based on the same formulas as the Klasse twins, but more advanced. Prime is the updated version of KAIO, Acrylic Jett is the equivalent to KSG. Also worth considering would be Acylic Jett Trigger, which is basically KSG in a sprayable form. Best part is, they're actually cheaper than the Klasse equivalents, and (excluding any sales) ship at a lower cost than they would from Autogeek, too.

I've seen Meguiar's claybar kits on sale as well, but at pretty much the same price. Han's Tools in Shangri-La offers DuPont clay, na clay lang - no QD or anything - but I think it was for 1,100, so not much of a savings there, either. Seen some Mother's kits on Sulit for slightly lower prices, might be worth looking into.

Checked it online. They are the makers of Carlack68 also. Think they're phasing out this line and replace it with what Sir Umi recommended.

i fully agree with sir umi001, KAIO worked in synergy with KSG. i might even skip the M7 because its the same glaze and with the planned 3 passes of KSG, i think its a waste of detailing product and time.

and btw, 3 passes of KSG seemed to be that long to apply for me, considering a minimum curing time of 4 hours in between passes. the most application i had with KSG was 2 passes, that is waiting 8hrs in b/n as curing time. but if you have the luxury of time then that's not a problem.

a full wash > clay > m105 > kaio > ksg > 915 > qd in my opinion is good enough for the rainy season.

hi, im a car detailing noob. question lang, i asked my sister to buy me turtle wax platinum ultra gloss detailer. for some reason, ang binigay sa kanya ng lalaki sa ace hardware is turtle wax super hard shell car wax. gusto ko sana ng ultra gloss detailer pang minor cleaning lang. dinadala ko naman for car wash yung sasakyan ko kung gusto kong ipawax kasi wala akong panahon magwax. my question is, may iba bang gamit yung super hard shell car wax? sayang naman kasi. pwede ba sya sa dashboard, etc?

Saw the dupont clay also at Hans but it's rated as aggressive. I believe the the ones that moms and megs have are mild ones lang.

Yung Poliseal ko rin nagseparate na. After more than 10 mins of vigorously shaking the bottle bumalik naman sa dati. Buti na lang nilipat ko to smaller ketchup bottles at di yung buong galon ang kelangan alugin

considering the M7 to be purely oil based, do these need curing as well....basa mode muna. Multiple passes of KSG work well for me. When i started using it, pa 1 pass lang ako then bump to 2 tapos 3 passes. Heck wala pa sa 1/4 nababawas ko dun sa container. Im turning the car to a hydrophobic bitch :D

Konting alog pa yan. Lakasan mo hanggang magbubbles ang liquid. Kung feeling mo kakalas na braso mo lipat mo naman sa kabila. Eventually magmix din yan.

Or if may malapit na paint store sa yo baka pwede hiramin ang paint can shaker nila
