December 26th, 2009 08:29 PM #3071Salamat jon and madkatz
Sa mga nabasa ko sa autogeek and autopia yung collonite ipapabili ko. Tapos ang paint cleaner gagamitin klasse aio.
Lagi ba klasse aio ang gamit nyo preparation or meron pa iba?
About sa stoner hindi ba makakasira ng tint yan pag sa loob ng windshield gagamtin?

Great choices.
Aside from Klasse AIO, you also have other cleaner waxes from Mothers and Meguiars, as well as the Optimum Poliseal and Poorboy's Polish with Sealant or Poorboy's Polish with Carnauba, among many others.
With regard to the Stoner's Invisible Glass, I think it's safe to use for tinted glass. The website states that it is "SAFE to use on original equipment manufactured (OEM) and most after-market TINTED windows when used as directed. Always test on non-glass surfaces before using. Not recommended for use on polycarbonate plastic."
Hope this helps.

December 27th, 2009 12:44 AM #3074*albino: spray waxes do offer protection but its nowhere near a real wax IMO, but if you are going to put it lets say weekly after your weekly wash then it might provide enough protection for our weather nowadays since its a lot milder. And if its protection you're after i would recommend you get the Ultimate Quik Wax it offers better protection compared to Mothers Reflection Spray wax, i've read in the meguiars forum that one method of applying it and making it last longer was to spray some liberally to ensure adequate coverage and then spread it a little with a damp applicator pad ( not buff it off ) and leave it for about 30 minutes before finally buffing it off.
check this out

It still wont be as durable as a real wax but of all the spray waxes locally available that i've tried this one lasts the longest, if you could get your hands on some Optimum Polymer Car Wax that would be great, its just like using a QD but it lasts as long as a regular car wax.
Hope this helps
*water: the closest i can think of would be Moms Carnauba Cleaner Wax, As for the shampoo, for the nice cars i use NXT, polyglaze and California Gold, As for the daily drives i use BB shampoo or microtex

December 27th, 2009 03:00 AM #3076*water: BB has collinite products but they charge extra for it and as far as i know, i might be mistaken, the only collinite they use is 845 which is the liquid version of 476 but 845 lasts a little less than 476 but still durable compared to other waxes

December 27th, 2009 03:30 AM #3077Tungkol naman sa claybar.
Ginagamit ba ito to smoothen the paint? Hindi nakakakupas ng paint.
So parang "pseduo cleaner wax" ang clay bar pero walang wax.

December 27th, 2009 04:03 AM #3078*water: yes it is used to smoothen the paint by removing bonded contaminants in the paint, it works by picking up those particles that are not removed during the car wash stage, particles like brake dust and industrial fall outs just to name a few, and these can really mess up your paint during the paint preparation process. There are certain cases where the paint itself is already marred and damaged where even after claying the paint would still be rough but these are extreme cases already. Claying when done properly is virtually harmless to the paint, proper claying also entails the usage of proper lubrication to help the clay glide easily over the paint to remove contaminants without having to apply pressure. A common mistake people do is applying pressure on the clay for one and using very little lubrication as the second error. So when done properly claying is really harmless
There are 3 types of cleaner waxes, some cleaner waxes contain very mild abrasives/polishes to clean the paint, some use a chemical as a medium of cleaning the paint where a majority of them are really safe (klasse AIO) there are also some cases of strong cleaner waxes, these chemicals can also level and reduce paint (Moms Step1 and Megs Step 1), and the third one is a combination of abrasive and chemical cleaners. So basically claying removes contaminants in the paint but its not as thorough and as effective as pure paint cleaners, so they both fall on different categories, its pretty much like claying removes those fine particles where as cleaner waxes have the ability to remove oxidized paint and other "more" bonded contaminants and other defects.

December 27th, 2009 02:15 PM #3080*water: Normally when you mention paint preparation its more of a 3 step process meaning first using a compound or a pure cleaner wax, followed by a polish and lastly with a LSP. Sometimes its a 2 step its a polish followed by a LSP, in an AIO or a cleaner wax i guess it is still considered as paint preparation but you do everything in one go.
My suggestion would be to:
1. wash
2. dry
3. remove asphalt
4. re-wash and dry
5. clay
6. AIO
7. 476
The reason why i suggested doing asphalt removing was to remove a majority of the asphalts, this way you clay doesn't get too contaminated that much, prolonging the lifespan of the clay
I've started reading about detailing and going to detailing shops and helping my friends with their project cars probably around 10 years ago but didn't take it seriously until i got my brand new innova last year october, since then i started doing everything hands on, buying new products, getting machines and polishers, trying compounds and all that stuff in one year where it was really different seeing it done and when you do it alone, it became my passing obsession to the point i actually went through the meguuiars and moms complete training last november and early december hehe
It's looking a lot like a certain cruiser with that color scheme.
