Slightly OT:
Those fingernail scratches under the door handles are a real mystery to me. Whenever I have lady passengers, I always politely tell them to open the door carefully and never allow their fingernails to touch the car. Pero meron pa rin gasgas! (Albeit.. konti lang compared sa ibang cars.)

The alarming thing is -- even the driver side door (my door) has scratches under the door handle. Halos wala na nga akong kuko dahil nail biter ako. And I'm the only one who drives my car. :dunno:

Ok lang ba kung punas punas lang yung car? i mean, gamit mo lang is a pail full of water and yun lang gagamitin mo panglinis? nagttipid kasi ako sa carwash. sayang sa pera eh. 60pesos din yun.

tsaka yan din ang gawain ni erpats sa bnew yaris nya... is it good to the paint in the long run?

If not, then what shoud be done kaya in an economical way?

Depends on the situation. If your car only has a light cover of dust, then pwede yung bucket + trapo.

However, kung may nagtutong na road film + dirt (usually ganito mangyayari sa side panels mo after running on wet roads), hindi na pwede yung bucket + trapo. When this happens, you should use a bucket + wash mitt + car shampoo. If you use a bucket + trapo on this one, magkaka swirls ka.

A wash mitt is a big glove with either wool or cotton/chenille nap. The purpose of the wash mitt is to be able to hold more water and car shampoo solution and allow you to was a larger surface area. The nap will also capture and trap dirt and prevent it from scrubbing on the paint surface of your car.

Swirls are very shallow BUT numerous scratches on your car's paint. If you park your car under the sun or if you aim a flashlight to your car, and you start seeing cobweb like patterns, swirls yon. Improper washing techniques often cause swirl marks. (Having your car washed by those pesky mall carwash boys is a sure fire way of getting swirlmarks. :D )

If you removed the grease marks/smudge with concentrated car shampoo, you'll most likely strip off the wax that you've applied on the paint. That is why you'll need to follow up the treatment with a fresh coat of wax.

When washing your car, always use a plush, clean wash mitt. Also, if you are willing, use a separate wash mitt for the top portions of your car (roof, hood, trunk), and another wash mitt for the bottom portions -- doors, bumpers, etc.

If your car is dusty, never, ever wipe your car with a dry rag. Mosten your rag first, preferrably with a good quick detailer spray solution.

Speaking of rags, NEVER EVER use an old t-shirt or a pranela if you want to avoid swirls. Get a nice microfibre cloth rag.

Lastly, NEVER have your car washed by those mall parking boys. Hehehehe... Unless you want you car to look like it just hosted an NHL game.

Yes. In fact, you should wax your car regularly.
If you already had a coat of wax prior to the grease stain incident, you'll probably have an easier time removing the stain.

newbie here about swirls..yun pala tawag dun, pag naiilawan parang gasgas na parang linya linya..bawal pala ung old tshirt, huhu yun pa naman ginagamit ko kainis..

paano po pag may swirls na? paano po yun matatanggal/mababawasan?
and anung brand po ba ng wax ang magandang gamitin? pref. ko since tag-ulan na sana yung di agad natatanggal pag naulanan..

sana masagot lahat ng tanong ko hehe para maayos ko yung itsura ng paint..thanks

If the swirling is major, you have no other choice but to have those defects removed either via DIY or through the services of a reputable detailer. Swirl removal WILL involve buffing. Buffing involves paint removal (very minimal lang naman). After your swirls are buffed out, the detailer will then apply a good coat of sealant or wax (depende sa choice mo) to protect your paint.

What method you choose depends on how you maintain your car. If you can commit yourself to religiously maintaining your car's paint, then by all means, have your swirls removed. Then just regularly maintain your paint using proper car washing techniques and waxing. This will prevent swirls.

If you cannot commit to regular maintenance, defect removal might not be a good choice. Imagine.. if you will frequently have to have your paint buffed out every time you've accumulated a lot of swirls, baka maubos ang clearcoat mo.

Anyway... since you've posted in this thread, I'm sure you're already committed to regular maintenance. Hence, I recommend have your swirls removed by a detailer.

Don't worry too much. Ganyan din ako ang start nun, parang nakaka-overwhelm yung dami ng products.

Kung gusto mo mag-DIY (do-it-yourself), just do your research, tapos kuha o bili ka lang ng paunti unti. Makakabuo ka rin ng collection mo. Mapapansin mo na every product will its place and function in your detailing arsenal.

Just think of detailing as a way of *caring* for your car. Done properly, detailing will help keep your car looking good. On the other hand, *neglect* ang isa sa mga nakakasira sa auto.
