But let's say for argument's sake, for whatever the term may imply, there is no Filipino-made computer. Did that prevent the growth of a robust local IT industry?

Do you realize how many people are employed locally in pertinent industries? I think the number may surprise you. Actually I think you will be shocked at how many local IT firms are servicing international accounts and at the size of those accounts.

The fact is that your reality is no deterrent to the achievement of Filipinos who are not bothered by such irrelevant issues. It is a matter of mindset. Those who aim to achieve will always overcome difficult situations. Those who are too timid to even take the first step will always hide behind any convenient self-serving rationale.

Has anyone seen the infomercial for Auto Cool? It is a small solar-powered device that you place along the top of your car's window as you roll it up. As positioned a small portion protrudes outside the car. The solar power activates a small fan that sucks out the inside heat so that your car's interior won't become hot as it sits under the sun.

Assuming it works as advertised, I was just wondering about the feasibility of incorporating such a device in the PhUV. It retails for P1995 but looking at it, I would estimate production cost to be under P500.

    err...

first ever cartoon in full color and with realistic human characters.

what i meant is he just asked bank companies if his project is worth millions and i didn't say that he loaned some money.

anyways, that anecdote is relevant because "others" think we can't do it but we will do it anyway even with the presence of stat quo hiatus.

    *topic

    applying forced perspective

i call this van "butanding". the grill and side mirrors resemble the shark and the lamps imply "hey i'm friendly ride with me". hmmm....

this one i call "tamarawFX2". the windshield resembles the previous tamaraw but i added cooler lamp shape and applied the signature grill.

Of course the bank agreed with Disney that the Snow White project was worth millions. Bank of America gave him a $500,000 COLLATERAL-FREE loan on top of the $1 million already spent on the movie. If this is not a VOTE OF CONFIDENCE, I don't know what is.

The bank officers were not stupid fools. They insisted on viewing the still unfinished Snow White movie- and agreed with Walt on the potential of this groundbreaking endeavor.

The bankers were proven right. The movie grossed $8 million and the loan was eventually repaid.

I wonder where you got your anecdote?

as standard equipment? built in na sa roof....that's a good idea. pero how much current would the fans require and how big would the solar panels be?

The Auto Cool in the infomercial that I saw was a relatively small device. I believe it is about the size of a VHS tape. It is stand alone and does not connect to the car. Both the solar panel and the fan are also pretty small, too.

As it has openings for the outgoing air flow, it can't be installed horizontally. It has to vertically positioned with the air opening facing the ground. So a more preferred location might be on the side just above the doors.

if tha fans are small, the rate at which the amount of air it can suck out will also be small compared the the time it takes for that same volume to heat up inside the car.

Hi architect. [hein, 'scuse lang ha? Back to topic muna kami. Thanks.]

That system is a very cool and feasible idea, but its usefulness will only be to keep your car interiors cool while it is parked or stationary -- coz, if you have a bit of velocity, you won't need a mechanical ventilator, would you?

Don't get me wrong. I like solar. I have a solar fan baseball cap. It really cools my face and is a small thing that made a big difference under the desert sun. :cool01: 2" diam, with a 4x6mm solar cell. Made in China. Mura lang. Visit http://www.sz-wholesale.com/shenzhen...-Fan-Cap_1.htm

Overall, the best idea would still be to use solar cells to recharge your batteries -- ie, when the time arrives when they can generate enough amperage to drive an ACU, and the cost is no longer prohibitive. I'm dreaming of the day when all top surfaces of tropical cars will be an integrated photovoltaic array. Summa ecologica!

Sourcing amorphous silicon solar cells is not difficult. So, why spend $15 for the device when with a bit of research and sourcing when we can design our own system and incorporate it to serve PhUV requirements? Initially, the solar cells have to be inside the car, 'coz you never know how the weather, cargo and people will beat on exterior surfaces of a moving vehicle. In the Philippines, the last place to put a photovoltaic array is the roof, and don't even think of the hood.
 If we just make sure there's a good enough rake, then solar cell panels can replace the usual windshield sunscreens. Alternatively, they can be mounted on the visors. Just flip'em down as you park outdoors - no switches needed. We might also need an optimum ceiling cavity to function as a duct.

BTW, there are Filipino consultants and resources on photovoltaic systems: http://energy.sourceguides.com/busin...lippines.shtml

    Hi ISPRI.
This looks more like an engineering challenge rather than styling.
Dapat magkaroon din tayo ng propulsion guys sa tsikot.
    Meron kaya? Sana ...

    * Drey,

I saw the infomercial in one of the cable channels. I think the company is value vision (www.valuevision.ph) but when I went to their site I couldn't find the product.
