I doubt very much the x-trail is as boxy as the PHUV . Anyhow, if they have to keep the boxiness to lower the cost, might as well stay with the tried and true Tamaraw/Ford Fiera-type exterior and spend more money on the interior and the build quality.

Innuna pa nila design trendiness but that can't be done without a bigger budget.

Pero I believe the upholstery is ALREADY much improved from before -- so at least may positive comment naman ako.

As it is, a fancified, custom-built AC jeepney would probably be a better buy kaya sana iimprove nila. Kung kailangan nila ng suporta sa taxes para ma-improve ang design at build quality, that's what tax credit certificates are for!

A.5 Character line looks out of place, and the fender is a very awkward part. By redesigning the headlight housings (easy, since they're plastic or fiberglass), they could make easier to shape fenders.
No real fenders and bumper(no cut lines).

A.7 The shutline of the rear door looks like an afterthought. It should more closely mate the rear fender guard, or they should just notch the fender guard to fit it... another example of adjusting to chassis variance.... You have the shutline first, then the fender guard is positioned by hand to match it.

A.8 While they do use the trick of putting black paint around the windows to give a floating roof, they don't line up the windows correctly. The third row window is an inch too high, the rear hatch a few inches too low. I hope to see this addressed in production models.
I believe this is hand built, probably hand everything...
No stamped panels, no properly molded fiberglass panels like real production cars. This also explains why the windows have huge frames and huge pillars, slim window frames and pillars are probably difficult to do by hand.

I would rather have a PhUV based on an old Tamaraw FX/Kijang(It actually had engineering involved and was crash tested) than one thats a mish mash of different parts. Safety? what safety... we don't have enough R&D for that.
But if they collaborated with Toyota, we could have probably used their old gen tried and tested Tamaraw FX as a basis and modify it, the most important thing is to have something acceptable to start off with.

    My Tamaraw FX based PhUV...

sana they took time to design it. sayang, parang minadali yung quality. sa dash palang, evident yung pagmamadali.

uhm guys, I don't think they ever had designers during the pre-planning stage and if ever they consulted one they totally threw the design out of the window and utilized instead whatever they had 5 to 10 years ago. The concept in and out was obviously put together by a bunch of traditional old guys <hey it's not that bad, you just need to listen more to the younger generation. Good thing tsikot members belong to an overwhelmingly active and young community- highly principled and ready to bash each other, I meant confront and deal with issues. So guys continue with what Niky had started, perhaps the oldies are lurking on this forum, be mindful of what you say paalala lang.

Just wondering, ilang units kaya ginawa?
when i was still working for sumitomo, FOA produces atleast 10 to 50 cars per stages of their prototyping.I just hope yon lang ang ginawa not unless may market na sila agad.

    My Tamaraw FX based PhUV...
Actually, this is a more feasible, palatable & better suggestion than the current MVMAP PHUV.

Why build from ground up (so they claim) when you have a tried and tested platform & engine ready from Toyota that can be used & improved upon.

    My comments...

    1. Loose the recessed headlamps. IMO - it may look cute but is not functional at all and IMO only blocks the light.

    2. No foglamps or auxiliary lamps please.

    3. No fender flares or built-in stepboards or any other burloloy which will only add to the manufacturing cost.

IMHO, it's a good start for us!!!! sana hinintay eto ng PLDT bago sila kumuha ng mga Advie at L300.

Kailangan lang improve eto pa unti unti...

and hopefully eto ang gawing pulis car ng metro manila or ng buong bansa para maging standard ang patrol cars nila....

Police Car? With less than 50HP?

sorry M2 but i don't agree in putting powerful engine in the street of metro manila which is the average speed you can achieve in less than 60kph according to MMDA. even if you make EVO a police car it will perform as good as PhUV in the long run.

If you will use it in NLEX/SLEX siguro engine will be significant factor in choosing a car. pero in QC dami na din ako nakikitang suzuki "yellow" bravo na police car, imbes na suzuki eh di yung PhUV na ang bilhin nila...

Of course. :2thumbsup: If and when niky can make time. This much I can say - magkakapit-bahay lang tayo. And that I say not just because of location.
Niky, it's your call. Since I am between you two, I'm willing to host the EB. We have a small bahay kubo at the back. Weekends, di ba? The sooner we get out of analysis-paralysis and do something about it, the better for all. Let's do this.
As ogpro says in his blog, "F*ck it" and move on.
And if Jappy is reading this thread, please accept the warm invitation, and let's pick up from where we left off last Feb 6.
But just so things aren't left too tentative. How's Saturday Jun23 10am?
Anyone else? If you want to attend, please bring your list of issues, coz it's gonna be a no-nonsense task-oriented meet.
