December 2nd, 2018 12:31 AM #242Maybe its as simple as a faulty radiator cap.
A friend had this intermittent overheating issue on his innova. After a few visit to his suking shop that found no problem, i opened the radiator cap only to see that the spring rusted and fell to the radiator
Replaced it with a new cap. No more overheating

December 2nd, 2018 01:24 AM #245Actually I did nothing sir. Which really bothers me. I'm not sure what caused it to rise to the point of almost overheating that's why I'm trying to observe the car if it would repeat the same thing again, but so far everything is back to normal. [emoji848] But I'll have my mechanic to have a look at it, may be its just a faulty radiator cap or a water pump problem. I'll let you know once I have figured it out.

December 2nd, 2018 01:30 AM #246perhaps it is the fan.
it may be rotating, but it is not rotating as fast as it should.
if one drives long enough, the coolant will overheat.
i had problem with my sentra before. the fans were working, but when i compared the volume of air the old ones were pushing, to the amount of air new fans would push, i replaced my "still-working" fans. that solved my overheating problem.
another possibility is clogged radiator tubes.
but i finally got to the fans, after ruling out the other possibilities.
it was a tedious process spanning almost a year.Last edited by dr. d; December 2nd, 2018 at 01:44 AM.

^ Doc Is there a sure way to determine the slow but progressive deterioration of the operational capacity of the rad fan?
I regularly check the coolant reservoir of my fd2's rad and i notice there's a gradual decrease in the amount of coolant in it in a time frame of over several months.

it's like growing kids, i suppose.
if you see them every day, you won't notice their increasing height.
but if you see them only once a year during mano-po-season, you will notice it, that is, if you remember how short (or tall) they were the previous year..
but if i were to hazard a guess... i probably would suspect it if my temp needle goes beyond what i normally see.
in my car, that would be beyond the halfway mark to, say, at least 5/8 , in heavy traffic.
my other car kasi (no aux fan, but a direct-drive with silicone-operated clutch), or my sentra when it was new, kahit one hour in standstill noonday traffic, the needle still kept a little under halfway.
in my instance, i thought the blow was strong. only a side-by-side comparison convinced me otherwise.
in retrospect, it was my over-reving temp needle (won't work with some cars' idiot temp warning light), and the loss of coolant, both in the radiator and in the reservoir.
the soundness of the old-timer's advice hit me, when i actually saw steam bubbling out of the reservoir. it meant that my coolant in the radiator wasn't getting cooled, and was bubbling out into the reservoir, resulting in overheated reservoir coolant, thus resulting in bubbling.
i expected similar symptoms with a clogged radiator. but as i know for a fact that my radiator had recently been cleaned...Last edited by dr. d; December 2nd, 2018 at 09:44 AM.

Last edited by ninjababez; December 5th, 2018 at 01:47 PM.

yun rubber rubber gasket kasi, binabalik nila tapos lagay ng gasket maker. kaya siguro nagkaka leak?

agree on the Avanza... horrible ride and I also have issues with its seats. Veloz is a better car
