*vctrading

November 16th, 2009 09:05 PM #78Hmm I have an ESI body. So where the blower is I made this plastic acrylic with a clip that fits in the suction and placed aircon filter material (150php ace hardware) madami na to and good enough to make 6~8 filter material and not to mention aquarium shops sell these cheap carbon filters (Uling) and works good as anti odor material. So every 6 months I just replace the filter material under my glove compartment. Essentially I never have my evaporator out and it never gets dirty because the air is pre filtered. I even smoke inside my car with windows closed and it doesn't stink only during smoking of course.. But then again it only takes 10min to cycle and the smell is gone. A lot of BMW mercedez models have these A/C filters. In general it's a very nice DIY project for anyone and is very simple to do. Eventually this makes it cheaper to even avoid going to aircon shops just for cleaning purposes. Only downside is that you get less air.
Technical story in this:
When putting your fan on number 1 or number 4. The consumption of electric power is the SAME! Walang pinagkaiba putting aircon compressor aside. This is because when you put it on number 1, the power is divided in a watt resistor circuit (Voltage division), meaning lets say 1/2 power goes to resistor as heat and the other half in your fan which will blow slower. So essentially with filter makes less air and you might need to go to number 2 instead of number 1 but theoretically its the same effeciciency.
(If your Blower is Pulse Width Modulated then this is a different story)
Another nice DIY project would be installing the ionizer inside the blower module. This will freshen also the air. Ionizers are cheap in malls at prices like 600php or maybe even less. All you need to do is ground it to your AC and positive terminal to battery (Yellow/BLK for hondas) such that the ionizer will engage together with the blower. A good location spot would be placing it beside the watt resistors but not too close. Don't forget also to buy 2~3 more units of the same ionizers since some easily die after a year or two. I am referring to the mini ionizers of course not the big ones. The ones that you stick in your cigarette lighter.
This way you air inside your car will be 100% good air and mold and odor free without the need of going to A/C shops
You can park all day in traffic and even smoke without windows down or beside some stinky market and you won't smell a thing.
Project cost ~> 1k if you do it. 3k maximum if someone else does it.

December 5th, 2009 04:16 PM #79ask ko lng kung recommended na ba magpalit receiver/drier and expansion valve pag magpalinis ako ng aircon? first time ko palang kc palinis aircon ng sasakyan ko (honda civic vtec3-2002). hindi na kc masyado malamig, specially pag nababad sa initan, hirap lumamig. sabi kc nung shop na napuntahan ko s may banawe most probably daw barado n linya at kailangan na i-flushing and sabay ko na nga raw plit ng receiver/drier and expansion valve. nagtry din ako dalin s abacus s my west ave, i-charge ko lang daw muna freon then observe kc baka nga my leak. wag ko daw muna palitan yung receiver/drier and expansion valve. hindi naman daw basta nsisira yun. normally pinapalitan lang dw un pg ngpalit ka compressor or evaporator. advise naman sa mga expert sa aircon. thanks.

sir jerome, di muna siguro... try mo muna palinis, baka bumalik sa dating lamig. like yung sa akin, linis lang naman pinagawa ko since ok pa evap & other parts. mine is '97 civic.. take note, 1st time pa lang nabuksan/napalinis, so malamang linis lang kelangan dyan. btw, i posted yung pix sa previous page ata.
