Just need to do a test drive of the Jetta to make sure it fits me well. Already test drove a Civic last month but it was the RS variant. So I may have to do one with the 1.8 to have a better apples to apples comparison.

Feel free to comment/correct my findings on the Jetta. Thanks
In terms of acceleration, the Jetta 2.0L TDI is slower than the Civic RS but it is quicker than the Civic 1.8E. The Jetta is heavier than the Civic but its ample torque make it quick among the compacts, much like the Mazda3 2.0R, Focus 1.5L Ecoboost, and the 2016 Golf/Jetta 1.4T.

What I like about VW compact cars is their DSG tranny and the firm chassis. DSG is smoother than Ford's DCT and offers quick gear changes. The chassis is well built and it speaks for itself in the models using it - Jetta, Golf, A3, etc.

Thanks for the inputs! Will have to decide soon!

Just completed my 12mos PMS with my VW Jetta.

    To summarize,

6mos or 7500km PMS - PHP zero (free)

    12mos or 15Tkm PMS - PHP 8,250

VW has its specific oil requirements and I think the local VW dealerships use Castrol.

As mentioned, VW follows a 12-month or 15k KM PMS cycle. Next PMS is after 12 months.

Pwede na rin yung presyo, atleast once a year ka lang maaabala kung di ka lalagpas sa 15K kms per year, which most of us does.

Not bad. Would love to see others going to annual PMS cycle din.

Subaru is every 6 months or 10k km. Like VW, they have no requirement to bring back the car for a first 1000km checkup. which makes me think of the additional fees the other companies are getting from this practice. . .

First 1000 kms check up is usually free ... it's more of an inconvenience than a cost issue ...
