Thanks. I'll keep an eye out. I know the locals can skip the rental company's CDW & pass it onto their personal insurance coverage or to some credit card perk. Wonder if there are such for visitors. This saves a significant sum w/ risks covered.
Anyway, enjoy safe roadtrippin', Egan bai. Load up on the caffeine.[emoji4]

Thanks, bai! In my experience with long drives, sugar rush is more effective than caffeine in keeping you awake. Mountain Dew or Coke will do the trick. Besides, I don’t expect a long drive within the next few days. Anything less than 6 hours is not a long drive for me anymore.

Can't do sugar, tho. Caffeine & great roadtrip playlist have seen me through a handful of 13-15hr non-relievers. That's pretty much my trucker's threshold. Driving is the drug of choice for the high of highs here.[emoji4]
Have a blast of a vacay, bai.
Remember, hobo here, good sir.[emoji17] Can't be picky.[emoji4]Bookings are usually done way early thru Costco Rentals which forwards you to Budget, Avis & the like with pretty good offers.
Thing with insurance, you're paying for something you'll never ever wish to use....Peace of mind is damn pricey.[emoji13]

Has anyone tried ANA? I saw a flight and the layover is only 1 hr 50 mins. Isn't that too risky? In case there is a delay in my flight, I don't want to lose the connecting or have to be running around to make it? There is another flight with a 13 hr stop but that is way too long. 3 hrs sana tama lang... I googled and ANA premium economy can use the lounge (which I like!)
Last time I flew premium (Eva Air), I was quite happy, we were less than 10 in our section (Taiwan to Chicago and vice versa) I had the whole row to myself. Yung to and from Manila ang puno, though that's okay kasi 1 hr lang naman.
no, i haven't ANA'd.
but i have experienced a less-than-30-minute stopover/transfer of plane.
we go down terminal 21, and then go to terminal 22 for the next leg.
"easy enough." after all, magkatabi lang.
pues!
it was a horseshoe-shaped airport.
guess where terminal 21 was, and where terminal 22 was.
yup!
you guessed it.
imagine eight passengers with their heavy hand-carrieds, running the length of the airport.
a fellow passenger puffed out loud for us, "who designed our flight schedules against this gawd-awful airport!"
our check-in luggage made it with us, naman.
thinking back, the fellow who made our flight itinerary, probably did not know of the airport's design.
OT.
1 hr 50 minutes is adequate time. i haven't flown since covid, but i imagine, because of covid, flight delays should be minimal.
13 hours is very leisurely-safe. bring a good book. savor the airport food.

I flew ANA in 2014 from Manila to Mexico via the US.
I am all praises. I would rank it better than Eva Air.
Good food, very professional and friendly flight crew, good choice of entertainment.
If memory serves me right, the aircraft was a Boeing 777. Very nice aircraft.
Layover time in Japan was just about right. You get enough time to go around the airport shops in Narita and more.
I prefer a layover time of at least 2 hours so you can go around and stretch your legs. Time actually flies.
Check with the quarantine guidelines of the country where you will have a layover. Some countries won’t permit a very long layover.

Took ANA a few times before and for me its one of the best airlines i have experienced.
great food, stop over at Japan airport pa.
ganyan din nagyari sa akin in the flight from LA to Manila, a little over 2 hours lay over. i was still able to go and eat at the food court. The stop over was Haneda and your only going out up to the area before immigration.
i remember them even giving the passengers some yen vouchers because we got delayed for 4 hours in the return trip to manila due to a supertyphoon.
When I fly, I always bring home the airsickness bag. I put them in the car once I get home and it is very useful disposing of garbage, among other things. Great help during road trips also.
Maganda yung airsickness bag ng ANA. During my flight, I asked the ANA stewardess if I can have an extra one and I also explained to her what I use it for.
She said okay and I was expecting her to come back with an extra bag or two.
When she returned, she gave me a bundle of 20 airsickness bags all tied up and packed nicely.
Panay domo arigato tuloy ako![]()
i bring home the (plastic) flatware from the plane. especially the knife.
sa HK and SG kasi, for some reason, the non-luxury hotel rooms do not have knife.
eh, favorite ko pa naman ang orange. hard to peel it. easier to slice.
i asked an industry person, if they mind.
he says that they don't mind passengers bringing home single-use items.
"it makes our plane's garbage lighter."
Buti hindi nasisita if may connecting flight doc? Like sa scanner sa hand carry bag... heheh... used to do it pag last leg na ng flight... yung spoon and fork na stainless tapos may naka engrave yung name ng airline... hehehe... [emoji1787][emoji1787][emoji1787]
