Ask ko lang po on how to measure the exact ATF?

Marami kasi nag kakamali dito kaya nag loko loko ang mga AT transmission natin....

My car is Innova VVTI AT 2005 with 50k odo.

Nag palit ako ng ATF ko last Aug 2010

Pansin ko sa ATF dip stick medyo mataas sya both hot and cold engine... discoverd 2 days ago. medyo sobrang taas 4 to 5 inches higher than normal. Nireport ko sa Casa then they drained some of the ATF. hanggang umabot na sya between the high and low measurement sa dipstick.

When i got home, tiningnan ko ulit ang Dip stick sa ATF surprisingly mataas pa rin sya around half inch.

Then kinabukasan binuksan ko ang kotse then inantay ko uminit ang engine without pressing the GAS PEDAL. Around 5-10 mins nasa normal temp na po ang tsikot then i move the transmission to P R N D 3 2 L then back to L 2 3 D N R P. 2times. tapos tiningnan ko ATF ko below LOW sya sobrang LOW. ( MALI PO BA ANG GANITONG STYLE SA PAG MEASURE NG ATF?)

Next morning pumunta ako sa CASA.
Dapat daw pag mag measure ka ng ATF dapat press mo ang GAS PEDAL 3000rpm to 3-5 mins. then adjust mo P R N D 3 2 L then back to P then tingnan mo ang ATF mo. which is nong ginawa nya at lampas sya ng HIGH konti higher half inch.

    TIA

For 35 years, have been playing cars with auto trans ( I love autos) including tricking up these autos and there is only one way to check ATF oil which has never ever failed ..... drive car for 15mins as this will ensure the auto trans gets hot reaching its own operating temp.

The engine operating temp does not mean the trans is also equally hot. Eg., you start the engine first thing in the morning and allow it to idle for 10 mins and engine would have reached operating temp from the temp meter indicator, but during this idling time, the trans is still in P or N and the ATF hasn't had a chance to get hot (just warm only) and to flow to all the nooks n crannies of the trans and also with no shifting during the idling time. All these will not give you accurate reading.

Hence the reason for actually driving the car before ATF level can be checked.

In short, drive car for at least 15 mins or more, then stop car, pull handbrake and put gear in P or N. Take out dipstick, wipe with lint-free cloth, insert the dipstick into tube wait for 3-5 secs, pull it out and check level. Top up to required level if necessary.

    for your reference.

actually thats what i did i maintain my atf level at mid... may konti leak kasi sa seal yun transmission ko inbetween the engine and tranny so tendency mag bawas cya some milimeters in a month usage... kaya dagdag ako ng few ml ng atf every month.. wala pa budget sa pag reseal eh.. estimate would cost 5k daw on the least.. so top off top off muna hehe... no issue naman on my tranny...lakas humatak...maliban sa minor jolt on shifting...

What exactly are the bad effects if you put too much ATF?

ako ginagawa ko-- i drive first..mag hahatid muna...then pagkauwi, while the engine is running, AT on P, i measure-- dapat nasa hot-max... mahirap magsukat sa cold....
