About the warning lights, don't ignore them and just discount them as instrumentation problem. Have it checked immediately using a diagnostic computer to tell you or the mechanic exactly what's wrong with your car.

I agree with you. I purchased diagnostic tools OB2 to check the real problem with my Mitsubishi eclipse 3g 2003. My wife driving it every time she shift from P to R she felt the car shake from front to back & if she put in D the car run as normal 1st gear but ddn't shift to 2nd,3rd or 4th gear & lack of power. Currently i'm outside phil so i can't really know the problem & share to you guys. But as soon i go back home this is my proj to play this Auto Trany trubleshooting.

Matic na GTi? baka dating manual converted to matic or Super Saloon lang yan na dressep up to GTi look. I had the same car before, mga 1997 ko yata nabili as second hand car. In a span of 5 years na ginamit ko, three(3X) times ako nag pa baba ng transmission and cost me roughly 25k each time. It was a very good car and super smooth ang ride except that yang transmission na yan has been a problem ng Mitsubishi even during the time na ang assembly plant nila sa Pamcor. Their technicians, as per hearsay, even requested mother company for a change in transmission design. Yan daw talaga sakit ng Mitsubishi when it comes to automatic transmission.

My Jimny A/T won't shift from 3rd to 4th. Hopefully it's just a busted solenoid and not a TCM (transmission control module) problem. Good that I ran into this thread and will contact the recommended mechanics/shops soon to have it diagnosed.

guys, up to now i'm still surprised that there are still honest and reliable people in banawe...I met Mr. BULAONG the automatic tranny specialist in banawe located at KALIRAYA ST. And yes, he fixed my tranny. He is a highly recommended auto tranny specialist. He explained to me everything about the auto tranny, like when it should be overhauled. An honest person indeed. He has worked also in Baltak.

I went to some automatic tranny specialist like in cavite, jazz automatic transmission and the one in visayas ave., all they said to my tranny was that it has to be overhauled. But my personal mechanic, was skeptic about overhauling process because he smelled the ATF fluid and it was not burned. He explained to me that if my tranny is for overhauling the ATF fluid should smell like it was burnt. So he suggest to me that we should look for a shop that can look the electrical parts of the tranny. At the same time we were in banawe so i paid him a visit. He checked on my tranny and he said, we can fix this. Your tranny's problem is only solonoid/solenoid. The other auto tranny specialist who said to me the same solution was the mechanic in Baltak, which was his relative (i think pamangkin). So we replaced the solonoid/solenoid and adjusted the throttle cable, and presto! the problem was gone when i checked it for a test drive. The acceleration is smooth again not like before it's hard to get its momentum and it slips. It only costed me 2,500 pesos instead of spending around 20k for overhaul (in vis ave, 41.5k hehehe).

So if you have auto tranny problem, try to visit him for consultation. I was saved from spending a lot of money (for overhauling), headache, and time.

To all esp. the A/T specialists,

Or to those with any contact to "Mr. Bulaong and Co." in this thread.

I'm planning to connect an external cooler in series after the factory internal cooler inside the bottom tank of the engine rad since i experienced slippage after i installed an 82C thermostat. As per my research on the net, optimum operating temp range for A/T is from 60 to 80C. Therefore, with engine operating temp of 82-93C, i'm overheating the ATF thus the slippage.

The question is: which hose should go at the top of the external cooler? Hot fluid from A/T or should it be the Return hose for the A/T?

i'm confused since some threads say hot fluid in at the top then cooled fluid out at the bottom to prevent aeration...some say otherwise since hot fluid is lighter than a relatively cold fluid.

Transmission is Aisin AW0372 mated to 4d56turbo....

    TIA

    Miked,

Don't worry about the Hot & Cold as long it pass thru ATF cooler. the ATF oil will come back to engine * lower temp.

    Ex:
Point A - is from the hot engine or ATF is in hot condition.
Point X - is your cooler
Point B - ATF oil return to your Engine or ATF in cold condition after passing to Point X.

you have three option to lower the temparature.

    a) Replace your ATF cooler to a bigger size or move to the front of the engine infront of your radiator if theres is a space.

    2) Add one more cooler & remove one hose any hose and put at the end of the new cooler and connect a new hose between the old & new cooler.

    3) buy small surplus fan the size of your existing cooler and install it.

this can reduce the temp. of your ATF oil.

Ur set up look like this:

    Point A to X to X1 to Point B.

    X1= new cooler

    Regards

I 100% agree that re-built is better that replace.

by replacing a surplus Auto transmission you got a 50-50 chance or the new replacement connot last long.

In my opinion the mech. that can do repair the Auto Transmission he is the real Transmission specialist.

If he do replacement only then he is the mech.
( sorry about that only my opinion)

If any transmission specialist hear in our forum just e-mail me * normanm*ot.mn we discuss in private?

    Thanks

    Ride:Opel Astra 2001.

    Thanks!

Went to Mr. Bulaong last sat kaso I didn't get to talk to him or any of his people dahil na intercept ako nung mga gantso boys na nakatambay sa harap ng shop nya. I thought they were his mechanics so sa kanila ako nakipag-usap. Later ko na lang na-realize na hindi sila tauhan ni Mr Bulaong after they insisted na sira ang shock absorber ko (just by visual inspection from the side ha) and binebentahan ako ng what looks like a cheap rubber bushing.

Oh well, I'll just set an appointment na lang with him next time para sure.

    Hi to all!

Highly recommended talaga! Salamat Sir Alex!

Sa mga me problema sa Transmission. Wag kayo magdalawang isip pumunta ke Sir Alex Bulaong! Tawagan nyo na 0932.147.7142. Hindi kayo magsisi!
