ATF oil pan filter... metal screen lang yun technically. to trap large particles...
the smaller metal particles are held by the magnet inside the atf pan.

So kung metal screen lang siya. Linisin lang siya or palit din dapat. Is this a necessary replacement item?

what you need to clean is the magnet sa loob ng atf pan, madami metal fillings na nag clump together around the magnet.

i will advise you to use the original atf pan filter should you choose to replace it.

a branded ATF with spec higher than what you need is also advisable, that way you are also buying a little further of margin.

use what is spec'd and compatible.

some are higher spec'd but are backward compatible and some aren't.

I just checked Mitsubishi ASX maintenance schedule. Under normal driving condition, no mention to change ATF, even up to 240,000 km. But under severe driving conditions, it says change ATF every 48,000 km or 24 months. No mention to change ATF filter, unlike for engine oil.
