ATF change

If you predominantly drive in Metro Manila, the SA's advice of 80k km seems sound. If you compare driving here and in much of the US, you could say that conditions here can be considered extreme.... Long idle times, stop and go traffic, extreme heat, high humidity, dusty/polluted air, etc. 80k km in between ATF changes translates to about every 4 to 8 years.

When I had my Civic, I change ATF every 3 years (or every 30k km), just for insurance. And on the 6th year, I also had the ATF filter replaced. ATF change is relatively cheap, if it means you're prolonging the life of the A/T.

There is a short statement on all owners manual which says "..whichever comes first"

Philippine driving conditions would be considered as extreme driving conditions. There was a time when BMW touted their AT transmission as sealed type and no need for change ATF. After a few years, owners of the BMW models with supposedly sealed AT started having problems.

I should say that I was not "proud" of the color of the atf....

Anong brand po ng ATF ang ma recommend nyo? I have a Lancer MX 2004 and Altis 2009.
Tumawag kasi ako sa Diamond motors it's Php582/L yung SPIII .

Im using Zic XPIII/SPIII for our fleet montero. If yan din rating ng lancer mo pwede yan. But sa altis hindi pwede.

Kada 30k kms ako magpalit ng ATF. Pero minsan ay binabase ko din sa amoy at kulay. Pag medyo parang sunog or light brown na ang kulay, palit agad kahit wala pang 30k kms.

The best pa rin kung via DIALYSIS ang pagpalit pero medyo masakit sa bulsa. Kaya traditional change oil technique ang ginagawa namin. We measure the amount of fluid drained para may idea kung gano karami ang ipapalit. This is better than not changing the fluid at all.

I own a Mitsubishi Space Wagon. Dexron III (Mobil) ang dating nilalagay pero hindi maganda ang shifting. Moreover, nung mag change oil kami ay maraming metal shavings, ebidensya ng poor performance nung lubricant. Then a friend of mine suggested the use of SPIII. Yup, it worked like a charm. From then on, I use Syngard CVT (compatible with SpIII) Php450 per liter.

Dexron III is compatible with larger A/T like Pajero, Montero, etc... For smaller vehicles, like mine and Lancers, better use a finer ATF = SPIII. Php800/liter ang SpIII sa Mitsubishi casa.

Castrol transmax SPIII gamit ko sa Montero and 09 Santa Fe. 320 lang per lit sa Ace Hardware.


How much yung SpIV niya? Pagka SPIV ang gamit di ba 80k ang palit?

Nasa 400 yata SP IV niya. I just follow the manual regarding the interval

Why risk your transmission? Mura lang naman toyota atf.. almost 500 pesos per liter.

Parang may nabasa ako dito sa tsikot, 400 pesos lang ang t-iv.
