^^^ as you(Sir GH) mentioned the tripod mount speed cam is like an old video cam in size, usually the power supply is connected to a car battery also seen behind the unit. thanks for the news feed i'll be reading it after this post
and yes the fixed type is in metal box w/ 2 holes. usually colored neon orange w/ black stripes. it may just serve as a warning not to speed up or else......

January 3rd, 2013 11:20 AM #882got to traverse the nlex and sctex (to tarlac) last sunday on our way to baguio. seems walang nanghuhuli pa sa nlex (8am), i maintained my speed at an average of 120 kph with some burst of speed to 140-160 kph on a clear area. at the exit of nlex, there were no enforcers flagging cars.
after entering the sctex, as i was doing 120 kph, i noticed a white innova parked on the overpass just passed the clark/dmia exit with windows openned and covered by black cloth to shield the speed detector from the sun. got a little worried i might be stopped at the exit. but before me, there was this pickup that passed me in that area doing about 140 kph. another is a gen 2 starex doing also around 140-150 kph. as i have guessed, the pick up and the starex, together with a black GS and another sedan was flagged down by sctex enforcers for over speeding. luckily i got away with 120 kph.
i guess they caught the two overspeeding vehicles before me that they let me go.Last edited by yourman_2nd; January 3rd, 2013 at 11:24 AM.

January 3rd, 2013 12:20 PM #884Would anyone have info if the toll booths check time of entry and exit ? Can they check overspeeding by computing distance and time travelled ?

Sa overpass mismo nakapark yung SCTEX mobile? Akala ko sa paanan mismo ng overpass nagtatago hehe I always slow down when approaching overpasses or an inclined road when I take SCTEX. Kung sa overpass nakapark mismo e di ang dali pala nila makita.

sir the enforcers flag down speedsters right before the toll booths after they get the information of the speeding vehicles thru radio. having to compute the time in/out of a vehicle at the tollbooth is time consuming (if ever they do it) and holding on to the vehicle caught overspeeding will hold up the traffic on that toll booth. so this process is not reasonable imo.

In theory, they could check your speed via time between tollbooths but since the long lines to the tollbooth, it kinda negates that way of measurement, at least for holiday seasons. From what I heard on the news, only SLEX was proposing that but I didn't hear if they pushed through with it.

January 3rd, 2013 02:49 PM #890kaya lang sir GH, kung mataas ang location nila like the overpass, do they still catch the front plate number if this is tilted downwards?
In that case, I think NCAP is something that they have privatized.
SC (temporarily) stops NCAP
