Not all modern cars have ECU speed-limiters bro.

I've gone over 200 on a flat stretch of SCTEX with a 2.0 Altis so I'm pretty surprised that your Camry(ies) can't surpass that.

The acceleration is much slower once you're past 180 but it doesn't stop there and with enough road you'd hit over 200.

120kph is the "silent" threshold, IMHO. I cruise at 100, overtake at 120, then back to 100 again.

If you go over that, and there's a radar gun pointed at your car, too bad.

That is amazing. Although I could not find a long enough stretch of road at SCTEX that is truly flat. It takes my Camry about 30 secs to go from 100 to 190kph, and at SCTEX, I'd find myself riding a little slope between that stretch.

Thats why I always race my engine at the long Pulilan bridge when not that many cars are around. Nice and flat.

Btw, 190kph on the GPS is around 205-210kph on the car's speedometer. I always trust the GPS speedometer.

I myself have never been caught nor cited for excessive speeding but I do admit that I break the speed limit for moments that I'm behind the wheel.

Whatever car I'm driving, I always cruise at the NLEX at 120kph, that would be 120 on the GPS and around 125-130kph on the car's speedometer. So I can safely say that they don't apprehend you at that speed anytime of the day as I am from the north and I use the NLEX going around town, at different times of the day. Or maybe I'm just lucky for several years now.

Just wondering though on some posts of drivers stating that they are travelling in excess of 200kph, wow! Is that a moment's burst downhill or actually cruising at that speed? I have driven my old timers V8 Land Cruiser and it topped out at 210 and went 240 downhill at one part of SCTEX.

Modern cars have an on-board speed limiter on its ECUs. My 98 Camry tops out at 140, 2006 Camry 2.0 * 140 as well, and my 2010 tops at 190kph(I know, I'm a Camry person, lol) same goes for my Chrysler 300c * 190kph. Meaning the onboard computer limits the engine or fuel when it reaches those speed, no matter how you floor the gas pedal. Going downhill adds up a lot of momentum so that is a different matter of reading top speeds.

So it would be amazing to know if those posts are actual cruising speeds on flat ground or just bursts of adrenaline going downhill lasting no more than a few seconds. Or, a lot of tsikot members here drives big block V8 engines. I wanna know! Lol.

Not all cars have the same limit on their electronic speed limiters. Some have the speed limiters factory set at 180kph while other models have their speed limiter at 200kph or higher. In my case, my project Sentra SR (with 2.0L SR20DE engine) was originally limited to 185kph. I had the limiter by-passed electronically and my car was able to reach a sustained v-max of 219kph on level-road.

well i beg to differ. I believe all modern cars have speed limiters, which of course could be bypassed. I've driven a lot of different cars here and abroad and they all have it. It is all factory built-in/programmed to protect the engine and passenger. But then again, I may be wrong.

Even with stock wheels, there is a difference between what is displayed on the speedo and actual speed. Usually the speedo is optimistically high.

Some have adjusted the difference by using a smaller set of tires which corrects the difference to under 5%.

I drove NLEX full-stretch *100km/hr minimum, and at SCTEX *140km/hr, did this at about 7AM in the Friday morning breaking-in my Honda City. Those signage saying speed camera ahead really makes me nervous when I was about to exit at Luisita Access Road.

I actually cannot drive at a constant 100 kph inside NLEX these days anymore. Seems like those fast lane hogging hijodeputas have multiplied threefold.

    On rev limiters.

My cars have none, but I do have a rev limiter, belted and sitting right next to me in some cases.
