November 26th, 2004 05:32 PM #3a while ago, i went to hahn megamall and they now have the La Salle Greenhills 25th commemorative plate. same prices. "LaSalle" plate costs 2000 and the 6-character personalized plate costs 2200. they said they were given the clearance together with supporting documents by LTO and DOTC to issue these plates. add to that, Hahn is affiliated with PNP since they supply some guns and armour. sure ito. kaya it's hard to imagine that their plates especially the PNP-MG are illegal, diba..

A-Boy: Simple lang sakin, kahit anong irelease ng PNP, kung di approved sa LTO, di to legal. It's not that hard to be a supplier of armoury to the PNP, it's just a business.
Bawal na nga ngayon PNP/TMG mag apprehend ng traffic violators what more sa pag issue ng plaka.

based from hearsay, the new plate manufacturing companies weren't able to secure a full clearance from the LTO. this was because someone in LTO was favoring a certain commemorative plate manufacturer.
though another story goes like this: there was a slight misundertstanding about the approval of the MMDA plates. the manufacturer assumed that they already have secured the full clearance from the LTO and went ahead to market it. but when the LTO approver heard of this, he disapproved it even though plates were already distributed to buyers.

(copied my reply from AI)
Technically di naman illegal ang ginagawa ng Hahn or anybody that sells Comm plates, for that matter),
I can sell Big Bert's plates if I want to, it's not illegal, but to use them or inform buyers to use them on cars as a replacement for front plates, that's illegal.
Yun ang point ng ILLEGAL USE OF COMMEMORATIVE PLATES... Having, selling or making them is not the issue, using them is.
Guys like Otep likes to collect plates, ibang usapan yun...
Parang using US / Jap / Euro plates din yan, di naman bawal magkaroon ng ganyan, or even place them sa car, basta di nya rineplace ang plaka na inissue ng LTO for your car.
