for your reference, the conversion made the fortuner ride better than the montero sport that I test drived. Still not as soft as a good car ride but surely a lot better than the old standard suspension.

Now I just have to see what can be done with the fortuner's weak brake system

thats great news. anybody who knows if the conversion kit is already available in the provinces and if ordinary mechanics can install the same?

    Hhmmm interesting.

Ok so if you lower a vehicle, usually the spring rate is also lower and the shocks have shorter travel which means that there is less cushioning effect, right?

Sir, you've got it right. I had my Fortuner V '09 changed the stock suspension with TRD suspension last Sep, yes the ride has improved a lot but the downside is that the rear suspensions' rubber stoppers easily touch the chassis even with 4 passengers in the car whenever it passed a shallow bumps or humps. Well this was what i felt during my 3-week leave last month. I had it checked by Toyota Cabanatuan and they called TMP about it and said that it was not normal for the car with only 4 passengers that the rubbber stoppers touch the chassis. During that time also, Toyota Cab just made visual checking and little bit of bolt tightening. When i go home this coming mid of November i will diplomatically insist that Toyota Cab change the defective TRD or refund the money.

It was a hard earned money and for that i should receive my monies' worth.

Hey Guys, let us unite together to bring to TMP our concerns about our Fortuners.

    Cheers

hello guys, new here in Fort's thread.. i've been thinking of buying a Toyota IMV.. choosing between Innova V VVTi AT and Fortuner G VVTi AT.. but one thing is bugging me. the "tagtag" issue of Fort and its "cramped" space inside. i have test drived the Innova. I must say it rides well, spacious..but my family dislikes the exterior look of Innova.. They have voted Fort as our family car.So Fort owners, can you clear up this issues about Fortuner.. kasi eto sabi ng mga friends ko na nagsipagbili ng mga family car (e.g., na-drive ko Fort, matagtag, masikip sa 2nd-3rd row, sikip legroom kaya pinili namin alterra at montero) hay, im really confused.. HELP!!

Its hard to make a decision based on hearsays. It is better to test drive and see (as well as feel) for yourself if its really "matagtag". In terms of space, Innova and Fortuner are the same so I don't see why your friends would say its cramped. Alterra is more cramped (than either Montero and Fortuner) and Fortuner has better and more comforable third row seats.

thanks sir. as i see the fort. i have assessed that i can seat comfortably on the 2nd and 3rd row seats.. kahit hindi ko pa natest drive.. and for the "tagtag" issue naman kasi parang driver induced problem naman toh eh katulad ng mga sinasabi ng mga american forums sa Fort. sabi nila hindi daw matagtag ang Fort sobrang komportable daw. ewan ko ba dito sa Pinas dahil siguro sa biak nating kalsada..

Try to test drive muna and see for yourself kung matagtag nga talaga. Kung yung pwetan mo ay sobrang sensitive na konting mga lubak ay sasakit na, then siguro matagtag nga talaga yung Fortuner Pero the interior space is better than its main rival, 2nd row pa lang nun napakasikip na ng elbowroom. Maganda din yung seating position mo kahit sa 3rd row, hindi nakataas ang tuhod mo which I find very uncomfortable. Pero as they all say, test drive test drive test drive before you finally make your decision. Goodluck!

The Fortuner is not sold in the States so I don't know why would Americans even bother talking about it.

Does it mean that you hear a "thud" or a "thug" everytime your Fort (with 4 occupants onboard) passes over a bump or hump? Your shock absrobers might not last long or worse, your Fort Chassis will be damaged.

Cramp or masikip ba ang interior space ng Isuzu Alterra? Parang hindi naman. Among the 3 (Fortuner, Montero, and Alterra), it seems Alterra nga yung may pinakamalaking legroom. Among the 3, mas stable yata ang Alterra sa highway.
