brute force it, sir. but be aware of where the release button is. it has to be pressed. use wd40 to loosen...
unless the ones you have are "not the right ones", there's no reason why they shouldn't be raise-able.

Sir/s, We have an Innova 2017 2.8 G, nagpalit ako ng LED bulds (T20 - Umber) sa mga signal light. I was surprise na hindi pa rin kayang accommodate nya mga LEDs (nag Hyper-flashing siya.) So I need to replace yuong flasher.

I managed to pull up my old pics. Thank you Google Photos.

It's really a PITA to get to it. It's way up deep under and up the dash and I had to crawl under the driver-side footwell to get to it.

When I installed the aftermarket flasher, I just left the OEM flasher where it is, still attached. I simply transferred the wire harness to the new flasher.

Pictures taken before the mod. The OEM flasher is the brown thing I've circled yellow. I also named a few of the parts around it to give you some orientation. The camera is practically pointing up from behind the brake pedal, so keep that in mind.

i had the same spine-crunching experience with my altis's flasher.
is toyota intentionally making its wear-and-tear maintenance, user-unfriendly?
in the olden days, the aluminum flasher was easily reach-able, being held against the wall or bulkhead via a simple push-in-pull-out holder...

If I were to put logic on its placement, I would think that Toyota designed it in such a way so that the indicator 'clicking' you hear when you activate it, would appear to come from behind the gauge cluster instead of the floor. It's clipped-on directly to the car's metal body so I think this is so that it makes the clicking more pronounced and conspicuous. Maybe it reduces the chances of people leaving their blinkers on indefinitely?

well, the blinking instrument cluster lights is warning enough to most, i feel.

but napuna nyo... the flasher is so much more robust now than yesteryear.. my altis's flasher gave up the ghost only after 14 years. my innova's, not yet after 12 years..

It's more for convenience to have that clicking sound. When you activate your turn signal, 100% of drivers expect those signature clicks. Without it, they would've thought that something is wrong and will force them to look at the dashboard to confirm that it's working, taking their eyes off the road. And when turning the vehicle or changing direction, you shouldn't be looking at your dashboard.

If car manufacturers wanted it, they could design the system to be totally silent. Instead, some vehicles with purely electronic turn signals even go as far as emulating the clicks, either mechanically (a sounder relay) or electronically (through a tiny buzzer or speaker).

"Safe" is highly subjective upon WHO is going to install it and WHAT remote-start 'kit' is being installed.

But warranty, at least for the electronics and electrical components, goes out the door if it's not dealer-approved and/or dealer-installed.

This is for the first gen 2.5 2KD-FTV
I recently tried the Caltex Delo 400 with rating of CI-4 for my first gen Innova (2005) D4D, kasi may nabasa ako noon dito na minimum daw dapat ang CI-4 for engines equipped with EGR, else anything lower will hasten the sludge/carbon formation in the EGR..

    Any thoughts?

Question: Are there compatible bluetooth OBD scanner for a first gen Innova? Thank you.

Can you recommend a good brand and where to buy and install then? Leaning towards Carsthetics but I'm still open to suggestions. Thanks.
