Sir Cast, Usual problem ng alternator is the diodes, 4 pcs ang diode ng alternator. Ibang porma lang diode nya, not usual diodes seen in old alternators. Pero may nabibili namang same rating sa new diodes.
Mine is replaced with a new alternator for peace of mind. Thu I tried to repair my Old alternator but never been tested. Takot ako![]()
Pero di ba paps mamatay rin engine after some time kasi wala na rin amg supply ng power sa ecu and much more mag control sa crdi nito? Yung crdi kasi is electropneumatic mechanism sya, parang micro piezo technology to control the spray..
Pero kung yung conventional diesel engines, I think kahit tangalin mo battery and detach the alternator while running, aandar pa rin makina nito..
maybe i was just lucky. my battery juice was enough to get me home..
the next day, when i figured i couldn't start the car because my battery was dead, i just connected the battery to my old reliable battery charger until it was fully charged. it took half a day, if i remember right.. then i drove it to the fixit shop for fixin'.
I had electrical problems with my D4D innova and did some research before. Yung voltage ng field coil ng alternator is directly controlled by the ECU, so essentially yung ECU ang nag-hahandle ng voltage regulation. This may result in some problems kung i-rebuild yung alternator unless aware yung technician it might be better to replace the whole assembly.
Based from the diagram I posted paps, galing yun sa service manual paps. Yung ginagawa ECU is monitor the regulation but not the regulation of the voltage.
And it is very tasking for an ECU or any microcontroller unit to regulate power supplies while monitoring also other more important data while the car is running.
Kaya yan i-rebuild, here is the diagram with the regulator, part number is 27700-0D020

Hello everyone. I need some advice. My Innova D4D is 7 months old and 3000+ kilometers pa lang. 1000K PMS was done last November. It has been rarely used inside metro Manila. It has been 6 months already. Do I have to have the PMS done kahit wala pang 5000 ODO reading ko? I think the manual said something like 5000K or 6 months. I used mineral oil for the 1000K PMS and it is still quite clear.
Sir meron sir obd cable, J2534 ang name ng cable, and works only with Toyota Techstream software. For the 5000km or 6 months, kalokohan yan sir kung sa 6 months pa lang mag PMS ka na. 1 year sir or 5000km.
Dalawa lang naman nagiging problema ng alternator, undercharging and overcharging.
Replacing the diode with non orginal could cause this problems.
Overcharging could bloat/ the battery, blow the bulbs and other electronics.
You may be tempted to disconnect the battery on a running engine just to test if you have a good alternator. Doing this could fry your electronics.
Paano naman paps magcause ng under charging or overcharging ang pagpalit ng diode? A diode is a diode, as long as you use the right diode for the application. Rectifier diodes lang naman ang andyan sa alternator and of course use the right current rating.
Bakit sir mafry electronics mo? Dahil battery mo ang nagserve as voltage regulator mo?

Can you share your experience with it? TIA

diodes jobs are just current flow limiter to one direction thus the 4 diodes act as we call full bridge type rectifier, so far the best design to convert ac to dc., you need to have a good diode with same rating and type, undervoltage is ok, over voltage is a big problem to battery and electronics. It is not advisable to remove the battery and use the alternator as power since battery act like capacitor and load to absorb those "ripple voltage" still being output of the 4 diodes.
Dont replace your double contact bulbs with double contact leds that can be bought at your friendly auto supply.
Been there, done that. Wont work.
And to add to experience, your ABS light will turn on if you have 2 busted brake/park lights. ABS will only lihht up when you turn on the parklights and then it will sense the busted bulbs.
