I got the rims for 26k. The seller was nice enough to sell me a set of 4 225/40R18 Achilles 2233 tires for 12k. Total is 38k. The trade-in value of my wheels was only 12k, so I didn't swap it. Instead, I posted it online for 22k and someone from ACP got it. So net cash out was just 16k.

Even cheaper than when I got Wildtrak rims for my Ranger XLT last year (20k, although that included a spare).

However, I inquired with Dubshop and they were selling the rims for 35k (once stocks are available), 49k with Maxtrek tires (no other option). I don't recommend Maxtrek tires though, at least Achilles is tried and tested by 86/BRZ boys both on track and on the road. And Achilles isn't Chinese, unlike Maxtrek.

Bro, Toyota Pasig gave me a big cash discount, provided I get their in-house financing. The interest rate is higher compared to direct bank auto loan of course.

I went 140kph palang bro, the out of town trips kase I was with my wife and daughter, alalay parin syempre safety first for my family. The power is definitely there. As far as I know, CVT's primary purpose I believe is better fuel economy without having to sacrifice power output. As for a better or deeper explanation on how it works, I leave it to our expert tsikoteers here

That's a Jazz. Normally it'll do 8-9 km/L in heavy traffic, but some rush hours are heavier than others, especially after a bit of rain.

The CVT of the Altis is actually very responsive. We had the old 10th gen 2.0 Altis with a 4AT. Compared to the old 4AT, the 1.6 CVT feels more responsive. Unlike a traditional AT which only has a fixed number of gears (4 in the case of the old Altis), the CVT has an infinite number of gear ratios - so when you need the power, it will select a ratio that will give you the maximum torque that you need to overtake/accelerate. Kaya mapapansin mo, kahit anong takbo mo, pag binaon mo yung throttle, sisipa to 4000-5000 rpm agad yung kotse since that's where peak torque is.

Of course, iba pa rin ang power delivery ng manual. Yes, the CVT has more optimal ratios, but it still suffers from more drivetrain losses compared to an old-school manual. I'm happy with my MT Altis' acceleration - very progressive from 2k-5k rpm, then from 5k-6.5k there's an extra bit of push. Panget lang ng tunog pag high RPM, mas maganda pa pakinggan yung Vios.

Naturally, malakas ako sa gas magdrive kasi mainitin ulo ko. But I make an active effort to do the ff:

- Stay patient and calm. Getting your mindset right is more important than any technique.

- Accelerate only as much as you need to. Keep your pedal input as light as possible, especially if you've reached your desired speed. I've found that pedal input is more important than the gear that you're in.

- Pick the right gear. Most people know that high rpms are wasteful if you don't need the power, but too low of an rpm will also make the engine struggle and consume more gas as you have to increase pedal input to maintain your speed. With a CVT, the car's smart enough to pick the right rpm for you, all you have to do is control your pedal input.

- Plan ahead. If you're approaching a stoplight, coast as early as you can as opposed to continuing to step on the gas then wasting all that energy by braking again as you arrive at the stop light. When driving on a highway, if you know you're approaching the car in front of you, then coast so you keep a safe driving distance, as opposed to having to brake. Actually, braking is very wasteful so try to brake as little as possible (without compromising safety of course).

When I'm driving calmly, I usually shift at around 1800-2000 rpm. When I'm in a hurry or in a bad mood, I shift close to redline and this really consumes a lot of gas.

Yes, the 7 "gears" are only for manual mode. In D, it plays around with more ratios to maximize the powerband.
