Toyota Corolla 10th Generation Altis Owners [continued]

Mga Sir good morning, newbie here.

Just want to ask sana all your help, i mean suggestion lang, owner kasi ako ng Altis 3yrs old na, meron lang ako gusto malaman regarding sa tire and rims ng sasakyan ko. Hindi kasi ako marunong eh pagdating sa sasakyan ang alam ko lang eh sumakay (hehe).

Well here is my question, attached here is the picture of my car, now medyo or di ko alam kung OK na yun tire and rims ko, gusto ko kasi medyo gumanda yun look pero simple lang, and gusto ko palitan yun tire ko kung panget sya o di bagay. Nakalagay kasi ngayon eh 18" rim and 45 series yun Tire, I don't kung yun nga tawag dun i-correct nyo na lang ako, nagsearch kasi ako sa mga 18" rims and ang bagay ata dun eh 40 series tire. Based dito sa Car pic ko tingin nyo ba kelangan kong gawin din 40 series yun tire para mas bagay o OK na?

Paki-examine na lang mga Sir ha and lahat po ng suggestions and comments are welcome. Thank you very much and more power!

Power folding side mirrors - Useful if you're in a tight road that you wouldn't be able to traverse if you don't close your side mirrors. Also useful when you're too lazy or tired to close the side mirrors of your car when you park. Looks cool too. In the end though, it's something you can live without.

Rain-sensing Wipers - Interesting feature at first, but after 3 years of ownership, I've gotten tired of this. Sure it's more convenient that you leave it in Auto mode and forget about dealing with your wipers forever, but in practice, minsan hindi tugma yung wiper speed sa level ng rain. I don't mind having this removed, for me OK na yung variable intermittent wipers.

Leather seats - Back then, I was a big fan of leather seats. Siyempre sosyalin diba. But leather seats have their drawbacks too - grabe ang init pag nabilad sa araw, and it starts developing nasty creases as time passes. I still prefer leather seats over fabric ones, pero OK lang talaga kung fabric lang.

Leather steering wheel - More than the steering wheel material, I think yung paddle shifters yung bigger loss. With the slow 4-AT that the 1.6V has, medyo useful talaga yung paddle shifters. Kung hindi ka naman ganun kainteresado sa gears ng kotse mo, ok lang na wala 'to.

Xenon headlamps - VERY USEFUL feature. Yun nga lang, madali lang magpalagay nito sa labas eh. Kahit projector pa, pagawa mo lang kay sir garyq, 20k lang nakaprojector HID headlamps ka na.

90% city driving ba kamo? 1.6V definitely. City FC ng 2.0V CVT is around 8 km/L, habang nasa 9.5 km/L ang 1.6V. Malaking difference na rin yan. Kahit naman sa highway, 122 horsepower should be sufficient for you unless you're really looking for power.

Thanks a lot for the info. actually nakapagbigay na ako ng 5k reservation sa 2.0 unit na available sa toyota shaw. nagbigay ako kasi sabi naman nila na refundable daw yun just in case di ako magcontinue. 1.6v talaga ang gusto ko infact approved na yun sa banko kaso nang pumunta ako sa shaw nabighani ako sa mga features ng 2.0, parang di na ko nag isip sa fc nya basta nacheck ko at nagustuhan ng misis ko kaya nagbigay agad ako para ireserve na ang unit sakin while ipoprocess yung application ko.

so nung umuwi kami ng bahay medyo nagcompute compute na ako and nagresearch ako dito tapos parang narealize ko baka if 2.0 ang kunin namin ay magtipid kami sa gas and di namin magamit freely, naisip ko baka di magkalayo ang fc sa escape and fuzion namin na di namin ginagamit out of town kasi marami naman kaming pagpipilian na di matakaw sa gas. may maliit kasi kami na rent a car business na sideline kaya pag nag out of town either adventure, crosswind, honda city, grandstarex (pag marami) or di kaya lancer or yung 2002 altis ang ginagamit ko. Di na ako umulit gumamit ng escape and fuzion dahil nasashock ako pag nagpapagas na, hehe. Nagdecide lang ako kumuha ng altis kasi yun na ang pangpersonal and pampamilyang gagamitin namin, besides maraming beses narin akong nawalan ng mga gamit, shades and wallet kasi minsan di ko nakukuha mga things ko sa loob tapos ginagamit o rinerentahan ng iba.

ngayon nagdecide na ako na 1.6v nalang and nagfinalize nako sa bank ang problema wala na silang makuhang unit na 1.6v na white pearl. Buti nalang di ako nagsawa sa kakadial sa halos lahat ng toyota sa maynila and nagkataon mayron daw sa bicutan kaso wala nadaw discount kasi in demand daw talaga mahaba ang pilahan sa pearwhite na 1.6v. pero i took it nalang kesa maghintay ako ng no difinite time kung kailan magkakaroon. nasend na ng bank ko ang p.o. kahapon and im supposed to get my unit on monday or tuesday. So thanks sa mga forumers here marami akong information na nakukuha.

btw, saan kaya makakapainstall ng leather upholstery sa seats. yung factory fit o di kaya yung kinakabit talaga sa upuan na parang original leather sa 2.0v? tnx

We chose the 1.6V because of both FC and the budget. After a year our FC is at 13 kms/li, roughly at 70-80% highway driving.

^From the top of my mind, if you're at city driving most of the time, the 1.6L variant will be more efficient. I don't know though how the efficiency of the engine is with the CVT of the 2.0 so you may want to search on this first before deciding. It should not be as guzzler as the Fuzion and Escape 2.0s definitely.

I don't think it's age but the stress of working that makes us want more comfortable rides when traveling especially in heavy traffic. Which is why weekend cars rarely gets used during working days. As you grow older, you will want to get a driver already.=D

If i owned that though, i would lose the tilting plate holder, CF sticker and repaint the tires at the very least to a metallic or matte silver shade. Try also color keying the rear ducktail and front grille (or maybe get the mesh grille from the 2.0V model).

The tire size seems fine; with that you don't have much fender gap too. No sayad problems?

Now, i want a driver and when i ride with a driver, gusto ko yung driver na maingat hindi masyado mabilis magpatakbo (steady lang sa road and tama magdiskarte). Before, i always chose to use a driver na alam ko mabilis mag-drive.

Going back to my gripes: Sadly Toyota also did away with the slanted, driver-oriented gear shift levers on the 10th gen. This has been a welcome staple on every Corolla from the AE92 up to my 9th Gen ZZ. I'm guessing they did this as a cost-cutting measure to maintain the same parts for both LHD and RHD models.

These are the times na tamad ka na mag park sa mga malls or mga offices hehe. And hirap magpatakbo kung traffic both Edsa and C5 at the same time. Better to invest in good sound system na lng para relax. How does the Altis ride in comparison to Elantra?

By ride, what exactly do you mean? If it's ride comfort, I'd say they're about equal. Well, the Elantra lets you feel the road more (which is bad for older people with sensitive backs on the way home from a long day at work), but it's not as awful as the FD's rock hard seats.

If it's the experience inside the two cars though, the Elantra really takes the cake. It just feels more upscale. The Altis 1.6V may have more toys, but the interior design and space of the Elantra GLS makes you feel like you're in a car worth more than you paid for. However, if you're looking for something that isolates you from the stresses of the outside world, the Elantra doesn't come close to the zen feeling that the Altis has.

Hi Vinj thanks for answering. Actually black talaga color ng rims ko and gusto ko tlaga dark kasi for me mas masculine pag black eh, sa setup naman ng spring ko kasi palit na din yun eh, so far di naman nasayad sa mga humps.

So maybe alisin ko na lang yun sticker and ducktail. Gusto ko rin sana palagyan ng bodykit kaya lang ayaw ko nun mga nakikita ko eh, siguro side skirt na lang and front chin kung may makikita.

Please advise pa kung ano pwede ko gawin, thanks.

* the chin and sideskirts, safest bet (and hindi nakakasawa) is to go for the simple, OEM look designs. If you do remove the CF sticker, you can still add contrast by having your headlamp modified with black accents.

but for the rims, hmmm i think i cant replace that yet, wala pa one year yun eh. for the skirts yes im planning to get a skirts, wala pa lang ako makitang type ko.

If you already have proper lowering springs and not putol, I don't see any reason on why should you change it. If you find the ride too bumpy, try installing O-sulee spring cushions. I've heard they're effective.

- 1-2" lowering springs

I believe a set-up like that would still look good even in a silver Altis like yours

Check mo nalang sa Clifford Body Kits kung ano gusto mo chin.

That's not an actual setup, I just Photoshopped the chin, rims and headlamps onto our stock Altis 2.0V. That would roughly be the equivalent of 18" rims. Ang 18" tires na similar sa circumference ng stock 205/55 R16 tires ng Altis ay 225/40 R18.

For smoked headlamps, you can ask the folks at Banawe to do it for you, or pwede rin kay sir garyq kung magpapaprojector retrofit ka.
