I still wouldn't recommend a D4d equipped vehicle to a loved one.
But that's just me.

RE: 3.0V D-4D, there are several who posted their problems already. Worst i've seen so far is the engine stalling while the car is running! Stalling means you don't have power steering, power brakes, traction control etc etc... Ergo, you're a road hazard.
So, i always stay away from D-4D cars on the road because i might hit them or they might hit me. It's not the owner's fault, it's the unpredictable defect that might both cause us hassle. Better to stay safe.
im not really sure how true this is,, but i heard of a guy who turn his honda into a taxi in iligan city lanao del norte,, and the story goes that he put t big sign that said the first honda taxi in the philippines... the last i heard thought honda filed a case against him... i cant confirm this story...just heard it from a frend leaving in CDO..
Lalo na siguro kung Accent o Getz CRDI ang dala mo, lakas ng torque nun diba?
it's been a year and a half since i both my innova 2.5. and so far i have not encountered "STALLING". In fact i brought my wagon to manila by land cos i'm from davao, with my family in it but toyota technology never failed us. I've experienced the battered road of the whole province of samar and the innova gave me a good impression not only in engine but also the suspension. i guess toyota wont market their new product if it has not gone a thorough study. I guess one factor we should consider is how the owner handles his car. but im not againts korean cars cos i owned one too.
Yes, not all D-4D vehicles were plagued by the dreaded choking problem (and i hope they finally get to fix it because my FMIL is planning to buy 1 or 2 units of Land Cruisers soon and turbo crdi is better than the gas v8). Toyota seems to have found a cure by reprogramming the ECU which then sacrifices the fuel economy but im not sure if it's a cure or just a relief. (read d-4d woes thread).
D-4D....kung gusto mong makakain ng alikabok ng CRDI.
seriously.....ive driven a innova, fortuner at ibang diesel fed cars. and nothing is as powerfull and fuel efficient as my 2.2L CRDI sta fe. more powerfull than the 2.5d4d fortuner...IMO.
my brother even said "its like driving a 16valve sedan".![]()
lets face it, D4D owners. given the option to choose, CRDI is a leap and bound better than D4D. some of you just say you're contented coz you alraedy have it. sorry, just my comment.
well for now its CRDI...lets see if toyota could come up with something better.
Honestly, i feel that the 5-gear tiptronic should be replaced with 6 or 7 speed. Sayang yung power ng engine. Most efficient run is at 100kph, 5th gear, 1,500-1800rpm.
baka pag 6 or 7rpm baka pwede tumakbo ng 180kph *1500rpm pa rin. hehehe.
Hyundai is also making breakthroughs sa CRDi engine. mayroon na sila 1st V6 CRDi engine
Heheh I "accidentally" opened and read the first page or this thread, last year pa pala....Ibang iba ang sentimyento ng mga posters, puro sa toyota ang papuri...Jump sa page nato...heheheh kulang nalang ikumpara sa stainless jeep ang toyota!!![]()
Sta fe, or any hyundai crdi vehicle must be a good product. But as the old proverb says., " The world is mine!!!"
In buying a vehicle, especially if its a luxury one, we expect to be satisfied, jovial, inspired, and best of all proud. We ought not to buy something and do the sales talk for the manufacturer afterwards. No more explaining, period. If it's a great product, leave it be, but to the xtent of becoming all-too-defensive... it just aint right dude.
Hyundai sta fe crdi may be torquier, has more Ps, but you achieve both at much higher rpms. Plus the fact that it is fwd makes it a league lower compared to a fort 4x2.![]()
Peace
iba na ata proverb ngaun ng Fortuner: "Your car is mine!!!" basing from the many carnap cases of Fort![]()
j/k lang po hehehe
well... let me see...
if having a hyundai crdi were to ditch me to a league lower than toyota's d4d, that's fine by me![]()
at least i won't risk being troubled by the (still unresolved) dreaded d4d stalling problems![]()
imo, it's potentially kinda like buying a million ++ worth of hammer which could eventually be used to hit your head with...![]()
good for those d4d's who are not affected (yet) and though minority lang ang apektado, parang mahirap isugal ang ganun kalaking salapi, unless of course you're filthy rich:king:

hi up ko lang to kasi its been long time na.
ano na po ang update? crdi parin ba?
Fact: Weather it's called a Hyundai Kia CRDi(under one management na sila) or Toyota's D-4D they're all in the same technology, common rail diesel!
Now, the question is that which has the better diesel engine? I think that Hyundai Kia has the better one. Why?
Well, let's see:
1) I've rarely encountered a Hyundai-Kia CRDi break down compared to the D-4D. I was a victim of it myself kaya I had the 2.5 D-4D(same engine as the Innova) sold and only my 3.0L D-4D remained.
2) Don't know if Toyota is making any revolutionary advancements to it's D-4D engines like the ones being produced by Hyundai Kia now with VGT and by next year it will come out with a smaller and yet more powerful 2.2L 200ps turbo-diesel engine. Toyota has yet to fix it's D-4D glitches. Example is the CRDi of Kia, in mid 03-06 they had a 2.5L crdi capable of 138-145hp(depending on country) but starting 06 till present they incorporated VGT(sabi ng toyota vgt rin din daw yung sa kanila?) which pumps out 175-184hp(again, country dependent). By late this year they're pulling in a 200ps 2.2L engine which capable of 200ps up to 220ps(country dependent) mostly in the territories of Russia that's where the most powerful engines will go.
I think 3 years later and I have to say its still status quo. Hyundai CRDi > Toyota D4-D in common rail diesel technology.
