boy starex crdi saan dealer mo binili yung starex mo? From what i see on the reviews, mas maganda talaga ang crdi kumpara sa d4d.

boy starex, what is your fuel consumption so far?Originally Posted by boy starex crdi

btw, we have a sorento and it's been a very reliable ride so far. i don't have any doubts about the korean brands anymore.
whew, salamat naman at starex ang pinili namin over the innova d4d. just got ours 2 weeks ago, at first i have my doubts on our new korean van but after reading this thread and the "d4d woes thread". thank you![]()
I think BorgWarner is the partner of Hyundai for their CRDi VGTs
these VGTs are really amazing..imagine a 1.5L CRDi equipped with a VGT can produce 110HP (i think this is the correct specs vs. the 102HP in the brochure). The innova's light pressure turbo can only do as much as 102HP considering it is a 2.5L engine.![]()
We just bought a Hyundai Starex CRDI GRX. Super loaded with features that are well thought of. My wife, kids, and even my 75 year old Mom enjoys it. It's quite a surprise considering this is a base model. It's got a great engine, cool dual aircon, back up sensors, fluorescent indoor lights, airline-like seats, and even a fire extinguisher. Fit and finish though is not Japanese-level yet. But at least its got a better ride than our 2003 CRV. And pag-nasira OK lang kasi Korean-made naman.
Some Japanese companies also have low quality like our Hyonda CRV. Sira na agad aircon and rear door latch, had to replace brake light already in a span of less than 3 years. The suspension is now starting to squeek when I go over humps (how horrible when its suppose to be an off-road vehicle in the first place). No wonder Hyondas can never be taxis or AUVs. They won't last that long. Ang mahal pa ng parts.
Now I know better when choosing between a Hyundai and a Hyonda.

huh?
Me myself got a hyundai, but definitely not the hyonda.

jedimaster, i really agree wit u as to why honda doesnt allow there cars to become taxis, heheh. i guess it wont survive everyday driving. heheh, i guess its all in the name, while the actual fact its far from the prestige tag! com'on honda prove us wrong and allow ur cars to be taxis!
up ko lang...6 months na kasi yung last post...
me nagka problema na ba sa Hyundai CRDi engines?
My Tucson CRDI has logged more than 20K KMs. since late November last year in philippine road and so called "dirty diesel" . So far, no problem pa naman. More than two years na nga pala yung ride ko .
2006 M/T Starex CRDI. Five months old, 18,000-km traveled. No problems with the CRDI engine to date.
hyundai crdi's rocks. but there are some hyundai matrix crdi users in europe (bulgaria yata yun) who mentioned that due to dirty diesel fuel in their country their crdi's suffer broken fuel injectors whey they attained around 30,000 kms. so ...beware guys......
thanks for the warning...but might this be an exception rather than the rule?
here's a local 2003 Starex CRDi which has already logged 55,000 KM and still in perfect condition per the owner.

eto pa...2003 Starex CRDi at 30,000 KM, excellent condition per the owner...

im also an owner of a korean car. specifically a carnival. i know old sins casts long shadows. but they really deserve a second look most especially now.
My bet goes to the Hyundai CRDI. Diesel Engines has never really been the strong suit of toyota.![]()
cocoy,
actually you can now turn honda's into taxis. its your choice. but, if you claim for warranty. they won't honor it since ginawa mo ngang taxi.
jedimaster,
dont get me wrong but the cr-v is just a "soft-roader" not an off-roader. and let's face it, any car kahit HUMVEE pa after three years of running in battered RP roads will surely squeak like a mouse. i agree with the high cost of spare parts though.![]()
2 years, but low mileage CRDi unit. all good. fuel consumption, well, for a diesel, not too good though. 7-8 km/L. heavy foot and traffic, not a good combination. although i would think that this is the exception rather than the rule.

mga kapatid,
it seems there is much buzz around regarding these common rail diesel systems, on who's better or not...i'm only new here and i'm quite surprised to find out in related threads that the toyota d4d system has been getting some amount of heat from the local consumers.
on the other hand, as this thread would attest, hyundai owners have so far been happy campers with their crdi equipped rides.
is it fair to conclude that the bosch common rail in hyundais compared to the denso in the toyota d4d is proving more reliable in the local market???
i would really appreciate any well-informed insight on this matter, especially that i am considering to purchase a later model pickup truck in the near future.
hmm, suddenly the 2007 ranger became a very attractive option (equipped with bosch common rail and vgt) compared to the toyota hilux 3-liter (denso) d4d. i hope it is safe to assume that this system is similar to the hyundai's???
although i'm leaning toward the smooth lines and general reputation and pedigree of the hilux, i'm a bit reluctant after hearing all the bells and whistles...
by the way, i presently own an isuzu fuego 4x4 with a 4jb1-t engine. its been with me for 5 years already and has never skipped a beat so far. saksakan nga lang ng ingay and i couldn't praise its level of vibration either. but other than that, it is soooo reliable. i would really hate to acquire a lemon of a truck in the future if i should decide to sell my fuego...hehehe
more power to you folks!
i think it's the 2.5L D-4D that's getting all the heat. i'm not sure about the 3.0L D-4D though. but, yes, the D-4D problems are making buyers think twice about toyota common rail engines, especially since there are alot of other options now![]()
I'm not sure if Hyundai's CRDi is Bosch (i've read somewhere it's German tho) but the VGT is by BorgWarner.
No problems with the Santa Fe engine (got it around July). Actually the problem you'll have with it is the lack of engine noise at 170-200kph, you don't hear a thing that's why you might think you are still going slow. Hence, you'll be forgiven for thinking you're just cruising at 80. hehehe.
Many racer-wannabies will try to race you and will shed tears while eating your dust. hehehe.
